In this interview, choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker discusses Drumming (1998), her 70-minute work set to Steve Reich's powerful minimalist score for percussion. The piece represents a return to the intricate patterns and complexity that typified her 1980s creations. Drumming was performed by De Keersmaeker's company, Rosas, in Minneapolis as part of the Walker Art Center/Northrop Discover Dance Series in 1999. Philip Bither is the Walker's senior curator of performing arts.
