Everyone who is getting defensive over this clip should ask yourselves "why?". Everything she says is true. It's sad that this is the reaction you have to a girl basically saying "Why can't I do the work that makes me happy that I am fully capable of?". Seriously, why not?

Crimson_Tango the reason I don't like this is I read the Anne books and Loved them. Anne never said this in the books at all, and I don't believe she would have. I don't like it when movies go too far from they are based on.

Because women can't do the work men can especially in a labor intensive situation as farm work. It's pushing an agenda and it's disgusting.

In this scene, the woman wants to send the little girl back to the orphanage, a dreadful place in the 19th century, because she is a girl and they expected a boy to the farm work. She fights for a place she could call home, for some happiness. You and I, in her situation, would probably have said the same thing to try to reverse the decision.

in the book Anne doesn't actually respond or object to Marilla like Anne in this show did. And none of the earlier adaptations have made thus significant change. Probably why this is my favourite adaptation. It embodies a progressive, opinionated and free-thinking Anne. Very fitting for the modern generation.

Ok, first of all, I'm a regular boy and I'm not against women at all, wich is something that a lot of people may think. I support a lot of things that this kind of femenism shows, and I think that Women can do as much as a man can. Although, my question here is: what is that thing that Anne says that a Girl can do and Boy cant? "Girls can do as much as Boys AND MORE". Those are her specific words. And I would like to know it. Of course, taking out physical stuff like give birth to a baby or breast-feeding, because in that case man can do a lot of physical things women cant, and viceverse. Please, I really wanna know the answer!

I think this is what this series fault is so far, they tell not show. That and reading the bit with Marilla going to a group of "progressive" mothers. I also read that Anne has PTSD because she begged on the train stations? What? Nope, Anne went from orphanage to orphanage. This version does not have the same magic as the old series.

I mean I understand why Netflix chose this clip from the show to upload... but the whole show isn't like this, right? It looks good otherwise and I'm thinking about watching it but I hope it isn't really just another stupid agenda-pusher filled with backwards feminist trash.

Women working on a farm is backwards feminist trash? The only thing backwards here is your mentality. You realize this isn't set in modern times, right? Or is that little brain working too hard at the moment?

TheChaotiCake I said nothing of the sort. What I'm trying to say is that the dialogue in this clip seems very forced, precisely because it isn't set in modern times. Not familiar with the source material, but Anne's dialogue is out of place for this setting, the way I see it and the fact that the Netflix channel chose this clip to represent the show lead me to believe it's a loaded reimagining of the original, promoting the agenda of the day

@@lasthope3237It's pretty endearing how much you are trying to reaffirm your 'superiority', but we are not talking about who is stronger. Fortunately women are smart enough to don't need to compete with men to feel better or made. We are talking about women, nowadays, do all that men do. Pilotage, construction, farm work, Uber, police, soldiers. This is not a gender competition. This is about that women can do and they actually do all that stuff. Nothing more than that.
