@@deltanovember1672 As someone who has worked with dogs since 1987 I would not buy one for myself. I have always wanted one and admired this breed, but they really are no joke and are a lot of responsibility. If I lived alone I would for sure get one, but my husband is not dog savvy and I would worry about him with one of these dogs. He is not good about establishing himself as a pack leader, my husband is too sweet and just ends up being their playmate. This breed is not for people like my husband, so I will never own one. They top my list as the most impressive and effective breed for home protection.

@My Dog Is Bossy, hello, where r u from? I live in the US, and many Presa breeder’s today has water downed this fantastic breed. I did a lot of research on this breed and honestly this breed is yet standardized, some cross breeding them to be 170Ib ones that has no drive with a lot of health issues. Yet other’s breed them to be overly aggressive ones. I went to Canary island to visit Manuel Curtó Gracia one of the earliest founder of modern Presa, they had good dogs but ever since his wife and son took over, everything went down the drain, it’s a puppy mill now, you wouldn’t believe the condition those dogs live in. Do you know any breeders that breed the true to the standard Presa, high caliber but also balanced, I need a serious guarding line dog. PS. Have you ever hear of Cabeza Grande kennel, if you do what do you think of them. Thank you

I've worked with dogs since 1987 and many of them were molosser dogs. Of all the molosser or man stopper breeds this is #1 in my book of most powerful and fierce, but make no mistake this breed is not for everyone. They have killed people when owned by those who do not know how to handle a breed like this. So please before you think you are going to run out and get this breed or any breed of this caliber please be honest about your level when it comes to handling a power breed like this and understanding and keeping dogs. We have seen enough damage to good breeds because of poor dog handling.

I’m so glad you mentioned this. I’ve had 2 male Irish wolfhounds & even tho wolfies tend to be couch potatoes, they will switch into “protect” mode in a snap if the sense a threat-even if you don’t - and they were always right. BUT you have to be alpha with dogs like them. Mine were never trained for protection. They didn’t need to be & their instincts were always right. Funnily enough, being alpha is more important with my 3 female Pomeranians 😂

Presas can be killer dogs very easily. I was suprised when my presa 5 month old attacked some of my friends. He hate one of them. It hapened once when he aproached to presa too fast and dog was in thr corner of the room.He was scared and instinct kicked in,started to bark,show his teeth,put tail betwen his legs. We all know its defend/killer mode. Dog to this day is agresive to him. Thats presas🤷they need time to know somebody

Incredible breed. Just got my 3-Month-old female - from CABEZA GRANDE KENNEL. WOW!!! Amazing & very intelligent dog. I have a Corso and always wondered about Pressa’s. They seem slightly more agile and have a slightly longer face. I’m not sure I would ever get one though as I feel the Corso is more chilled. I have barbershop and my boy comes to work every day with me, everyone loves him and he’s so good with kids and never misunderstands a situation but he’s very watchful. Also he becomes more territorial when at home. But I love all mastiffs and I reckon there’s one for every lifestyle

Oh I've heard of this dog. But it was from a case where one was being misused. Dogs like this, (just like the pit bull breeds) get a bad reputation in the media caused by bad owners. I'm happy to know that experienced handlers are informing us of the beneficial side of owning such a breed.

@@RAPEDBYBLACKS When I say "misused" it's exactly that. Used to intimidate a person in a violent matter. Basically, the two individuals had friction and the owner placed the dog next to woman's throat as if to say, "one word and I can have this dog tear your throat out..." A dog's nature is to do what it's designed to do. But when you combine human and dog together and the human uses the nature of the dog for something wrong it becomes a problem. Which why WHY so many of these dogs when mismanaged they end up being destroyed.

@@RAPEDBYBLACKS I already know the nature of ALL types of guard dogs. What I mean by misused was the that owner of this breed used HIS dog to threaten a woman he had an issue with. This was in a affluent neighborhood. Not the hood. He brought the dog against her neck while she was on the ground gardening and just nonchalantly said what the dogs could do. This was an actual case. However the issue had nothing to do with the dogs just their relations. But he was using his dog to intimidate. THAT IS A FORM OF MISUSE. Stuff like this is how to get a breed like this banned!

I've owned Kangals, GSD, and Presas.They're all great dogs. These dogs are not for everyone. You have to show dominance and persistance. They're great with kids IMO. Socialize them early so they won't be overly aggressive when grown and plenty of exercise.

These dogs are amazing, when trained right, had contractors my press never met come in the house and he was fine, one day an intruder came in my house, my 12 year old son was home and that's the day I found out he learned what attack commands to use, so proud of my son and dog but so mad at the same time lol

These are on my wish list for when the kids have moved out. They look like the most perfect breed ever. I’m sure they could be around kids and everything would be fine. However, I don’t want that risk. I’ve got a bullmastiff x ddb and a rottie and that’s enough for now. They’re amazing with the kids but that’s as much as I want to risk. It all comes down to this: know what type of dog you got in your hands, is it a "hot wired" workingline dog or a show line coutch patato! People who never owned or worked a hot wired sharp dog, can never judge other people on there dogs behavoir, fact! .." my dog is so wel mannered" They will say in an arrogant way!...Those people most of the time have those soft watered down showline paper tigers!! It all comes down to genetics! A true working line presa is one of the best if not the best for guarding over your loved ones, great breed, I love them. Freddy

Genetics are important, it's not all in how you raise them. Yes it's a influence but it is not law, behaviour can be genetically rooted. As someone said many breeds have certain predispositions to certain traits and behaviours. You can see a drastic difference in show line and working line dogs of the same breed, the same behaviours are present in both linages e.g it's why herders herd, and why many shepherd type dogs are alert generally

I'm a big fan of the Presa and this was an awesome episode. They are " longer" than the Cane Corso which is taller at the withers. But I have seen several Presa lines that are bigger than Cane Corso's. Gotta love Mastiffs all round as they are amazing!

@@lostvikinga I think it's mainly the US Presa lines that are much bigger than the stocks in Europe. I came across a Cane Corso from Serbia yesterday and he was exceptional in size and muscle definition!100% raw diet...

Very ImpRessa! Annexe is one of the best parts of this series. Losing a dog is heartbreaking and unfortunately longevity is not one of the strong points of larger breeds. Wish they would start breeding them for longevity too.

I did my research and decided to get a male pup, he wasn't the biggest of the litter but he is now. At 8 months old he is over 53 kg and 27 inches tall. He gets on brilliant with my springers and at the moment he likes everyone.
