I'm here because Shooter McGavin posted the Jurassic Park theme on X and the horns in the orchestra had an extra loop in them that was unfamiliar to me. Thank you for this video. I was handed a Conn 8D at 14 years old that was still wrapped in plastic inside the case - brand new - for high school band. I played it for four years, and I'll remember opening that case forever.

A Vienna Valve French Horn. It's a Single Horn with Vienna Valves (Double Piston Valves).

An old master horn maker once told me that the design from the Vienna horn came from the Necronomicon. He showed me pictures and everything. I even saw a listing on ebay once for one created by an enslaved demon who's name knows no description. Very beautiful instrument. Smells slightly of sulfur and brimstone. Wonderful overtones.

@@AnnekeScott I have one of his double horns and love it. It is my primary horn, though I am not a pro. I owned an Engel Wienerhorn for many years and hope to get one of Andreas' sometime soon. Thanks for posting these.

'French horn' is usual in English. In German, we only say 'Horn'.
