How to Print Images onto Book Edges

This technique is genius! Thank you! The only tutorials I could find said you had to paint it by hand, and so I thought I would be stuck with very simple images, but this opens up a world of possibilities!

Great video. Do you think it's possible to sublimate book edges and use heat press to apply? Do you think the quality would be good and not ruin the book? And I guess would need a different shaped heat press? Any tips or thoughts you can offer is much appreciated.

Ive been using T shirt transfer for years. But you need a hot roller to do it

I tried it, and it works fairly well, but you can't leave any extra paper at the top edge, or it will crinkle against the top board and ruin the image!

If you use T shirt transfer paper, the trick is to remove the paper leaving the image behind. without leaving torn paper. The way is to gradually remove the paper whilst applying it with the hot roller, so roll the paper back whilst still hot, If some of the image comes off with the paper, then put it back again and re-apply the heat and continue to do so, until you have a complete image. On some papers, you may need to apply a thin layer of shellac before applying it. Or alternatively, a ver. weak PVA wash. The way to break up the solid image is to hit the edge of the book on the edge of the bench until all the pages are separated
