She replaced Ava Gardner’s vocals on Show Boat after MGM boss decided they weren’t good enough. Actually if you listen to the Ava Gardner versions which are on KZbin, they are amazing. Ava was a southern girl with an earthy sexy voice. I have an original 33 1/3 version of the soundtrack and it has Ava’s versions. Listen & compare.
