"Annexation happens when one state takes part of another state". What happens when, following the dissolution of an empire, a recognized state never emerged in that territory?

What about the acquirement of territory through defensive war?

Defensive war, means you stay inside your state.

@@micixduda No, dear. That is not what defensive war is. You have to push back the offensive until they stop attacking. Until they are incapable of continuing their offensive.

So how then did the United States “annex” the internationally recognized sovereign country of The Hawaiian Kingdom via a joint resolution, which is domestic to and which powers are limited to, the boundaries and borders of the United States?!?!?

The USA is not bound by the rules of international law like in the jungle lions and crocodiles enforce the law but are not bound by it
@The.Hawaiian.Kingdom7 ай бұрын
@@lexanimata Lions actually don’t live in the jungle 😬. Why bother with the illusion of international law, if the lions and crocodiles, who are the very ones that the rest of the jungle needs protecting from, are immune/not bound by it?

@@anharmyenone UN charters are simply the codification of pre-existing Customary International Laws. Customary International Law is just as punishable as modern codified international laws. The only difference is you have to able to prove an international custom was understood and followed, which is easy in this case, as the US acquired every inch of its land via a treaty… EXCEPT the Hawaiian Kingdom, which it claims to have annexed via a joint resolution… which neither has the power nor jurisdiction to annex a foreign country. Their use of treaties are a very clear demonstration of understanding the international custom of using treaties for the acquisition of foreign territory.

Hi, the UN charter is from 1945, the annexation of Hawaii is from 1898 The charter doesn't apply in retrospect.
