kobipbip Wow. Ok, this is where I often try to remind myself of that line,”... different strokes for different folks”! Because, imho, that small list of legit women, in their own right, in your list... are not in the same musical realm of soulful presence as the divine Lennox. Again, imo, there’s that group of women performers you’ve mentioned... which I’d even throw in Beyoncé (only because she has so many fans that vow she is a queen) I don’t agree, and her vibrato and “skills” actually irritate my ear drums😂 But, to each their own. Then, there are the greats! And that group includes names like Etta, Whitney, Tina, Lennox just to name the select few. Heck, even Cyndi Lauper belongs in this elite group. I eve was tempted to mention it was an insult to group Annie with that list. But, I didn’t want to be a drama queen😂

Annie is the finest singer...pretty much ever. Studio, live, whatever. Especially on those slower, ballad-esque songs. Her voice just jambs itself down your throat and grabs you by the feels. Velvety liquid gold. One of those voices like Patsy Cline and Otis Redding. There won't ever be anything as good.

Darryl souster1967 - in addition to her incredible voice & artistry, to me Annie is similar to a select group of women performers who have talent with X factor, earthy charisma that hooks men but women love her, too - Janis, Aretha, Sher, Tina Turner, Etta James, Bonnie Raitt...female versions of Michael Bolton, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra....

flor wast I’d agree, also Whitney Houston could always pull out an even better vocal performance on the stage than in the studio
@thathawaiiandude7874 жыл бұрын
Flor wast I agree, wholeheartedly! And that is a huge compliment, because her studio recordings are soulful and on point! But, there is some kind level that she elevates her music and voice when she performs on stage that always moves my soul, man. That performance of her cover on “No More I Love You’s” on the DAVE LETTERMAN show back in the 90’s is still one of her greatest 3 and a half minutes on stage that I still get chills watching in awe. From the time she walked out to the stage, pirouetted into the song’s intro... through that great soulful last minute after her “... and you know what, Mummy? The monsters are REALLY CRAZY... there are monsters outside...”, moments that makes me choke up in tears because I’ve recently lost my Mum and the way Annie speaks those lyrics has me thinking, and missing DEARLY, my mom as I struggle to suck up the tears and enjoy this beautiful woman and her blessed voice. And, I got to mention... isn’t her eyes so hypnotic??! And, knowing she was actually under the weather during this show and fought off a 103 degree fever, is even more amazing how she carried herself like the pro she is. Lovely woman ❤️✌🏾🤙🏾 kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5fXkJ1oiLB6gLM

I totally agree, brother! Her voice is so soulful and strong. Even her “Whoa’s”... and “Yeeeah”s has this certain sweetness and power going back to her EURYTHMICS days of “Sweet Dreams” and “Here Comes the Rain..” and on great tunes like “Why” and, my personal favorite,”No More I Love You’s” with those soulful “Whoa”s and “Yeah”s on all of them.
@thathawaiiandude7874 жыл бұрын
John Lee Bass No, she doesn’t. There are several songs I can replay multiple times in a row because of how much my ears are fused to her beautiful vocal delivery. And if I’m watching a KZbin video, I’ve been known to drag back that little red dot to restart an Annie Lennox song... ten plus times. UNabashedly!😍🤭😬😁 And, those hypnotic eyes, man! I’ll mention it time and time again. They are awesome! Always thought she was a beautiful woman/artist! Whether it was dressing Tom boyish during her EURYTHMICS days, to wigs during her solo years... she has always been so easy on the eyes. And, what really amazed me that I learned about her during an interview she had done when she had released her solo debut album, was she mentioned that she is shy by nature. And, loves to dress up with head dresses, makeup etc because it is like a shield to her as she faces the public or performs in concerts. I would never had guessed that. BUT, it makes total sense because, ironically, I am the same way.
