"Annie Oakley" (1985) Starring Jamie Lee Curtis - From Tall Tales & Legends

Annie Oakley passed away on this date, 97 years ago. She was born Phoebe Ann Moses on August 13, 1860 in Darke County, Ohio. After traveling the world and living a life of adventure, she died back in Ohio after 66 years on November 3, 1926.
A comic recreation of the life of Annie Oakley, the famed sharpshooter and frontier markswoman Annie Oakley (Jamie Lee Curtis). It also stars Wild Bill Hickok (Brian Dennehy) in a Wild West Show. Jamie Lee Curtis is great in any role she plays, but getting her to play Annie Oakley is a treat for kids of all ages. This is one of the better Tall Tales & Legends from Shelley Duvall. Dennehy is good as always. Episode 9 from Season 1 of this series which first aired on December 24th 1985.

Loved the story! Loved that she was called "Little Sure Shot" by Chief Sitting Bull. I know there was a lot of free adaptation of Annie's life story in this movie, but I liked the fatherly kindness Sitting Bull showed to Annie. The Shelley Duvall stories are heartwarming.

The Pony Express went out of business in 1861. Annie was 1 year old.
