Still to this day, I think a more decisive Erwin would've been a better option than Armin for the situation. The only caveat to the choice was whether he would fully loose his drive after achieving his dream. In terms of leadership , political maneuvering and his gambles he would be more suited for the situation. He has the skillset for creating better options for Paradis island.

The OP is an excellent example of combining harsh vocals with clean vocals to add more layers to the song. Growling isn't an easy technique, many untrained vocalists will damage their vocal cords by improperly doing it, that's why I admire those who manage to master it.

I honestly think that the most important detail is the majority of Marleyans (and the rest of the world, for that matter) calling the denizens of Paradis "devils." Anyone who's looked into real-world genocides knows that one of the most important steps is dehumanization. That way, instead of killing people, you're "slaying monsters" or "fixing problems."

Lol! Hitch was cute before imo, but immature. Now she's mature, her voice is deeper too slightly, and yeah she's a bit more confident and her look evolved a lot. A HUGE part of season 4 is exactly what you said in the intro though. Eren is trapped, but more by himself. Because he can see the future basically he's trapped by his memories and future sight. He's already lived everything and for a Titan that "continues to march towards freedom" it's pretty ironic for him. Not to mention giving an even darker tone to the episode he beat Armin up.. A fun attention to detail: if you look back at the episode when Eren wakes up in the crystal cave with Historia and Rob, the dream he had before he woke up was with the prior Founding titan when she was brushing her hair. She stops for a moment and stares at the mirror, confused about something. That was potentially foreshadowing that Eren could influence the past and the previous Founding titan knew she was either being watched or she was looking at Eren through her own eyes for a brief moment. Kind of like Grisha noticing Zeke and Eren a couple of times.

I think the one thing Erwin would've definitively been better positioned for than Armin would be in curbing the amount of political power the Jaegerists get. His tenure, reputation, and leadership skills all would have lended themselves to him being better able to deal with the situation, not to mention the fact that Floch would be more amenable to him. Here's the thing I dislike about the whole, "everything doesn't matter, everything is in place." notion. Eren was only ever able to change the motives of the previous attack titans, not everyone else's motives. There are so many things Erwin would've have done or not, where Armin has done the opposite, even after this point in the anime/manga. Same goes for so many moments throughout the series. One of my favorite what ifs is what if Marco wasn't murdered. He was bright, he was willing to hear the enemy out, the events throughout seasons 2-4 would have played out differently and probably even faster with less casualties.

I found the first time this OP came out rather cheeky. You hear again and again about the rumbling in the previous season, and then the OP goes literally "Rumbling! Rumbling! It's coming!" :D The military police might be mostly corrupt slackers, but they are still damn well trained corrupt slackers, who made it into the top 10 of their trainee class. ;) A "comfy life in the interior" has lost quite a bit of meaning, with there neither being walls to define it, nor being there any titans to be as far away from as possible, which was the main appeal of the interior.

Erwin is a genius just like Armin, but a far more respected leader Floch def wouldn't have betrayed him, but Eren would just end up using someone else and who knows what Erwin would have done his only goal and ideal was learning the truth would he still have motivation to fight against Eren after he learned that. Would Eren have let Erwin live during his rebellion, because no matter how smart Erwin is Eren easily would have killed him since he has no strong attachment to him and would be extra bitter since he's the reason Armin died and with Armin dying what would Mikasa do Armin and Eren keep her grounded without Armin as the moral anchor who knows what she would of done or sided with. There's so many what ifs and potential changes that it's genuinely impossible to know if Erwin would have been better or if he would of just caused our main group to further be pushed apart since Armin is a moral glue. So yea Armin's real value is not just his intelligence which Erwin could match it was his ideal the fact that he is by far the most morally humane character without him most of our characters wouldn't have that moral center that heart that Armin has. In short I think people really overlook that while yes Erwin is better overall unit, he brings different benefits Armin's value is his moral code and his intelligence while Erwin is is intelligence and leadership. So yea Erwin's leadership could have avoided a lot of this death, but he may have also lead to a more devastating future since we wouldn't have our most human character. Sure there can be arguments against what i said, but that's the thing we don't know and each have pros and cons the issue is Armin is the one live so we see his cons and so it's easier to critique his failures instead of considering that Erwin could of faltered just as much or worse or even given up.

This OP made me INTO a Metal fan. It literally topped the charts for Rock and Metal when it came out in the US, which is unheard of for foreign bands. Also you say it doesn't matter whether Erwin or Armin was the one to bring back, but my theory is that in an alternate universe where Erwin was brought back, I think he would be on Eren's side. Maybe not a full on Jaegerist fanboy like Floch, but Erwin definitely believed in destroying their enemies no matter the cost, which would absolutely put our team in a HUGE disadvantage without Armin/the Colossal on our side.

I honestly believe things wouldve played out a bit different if Erwin was chosen,I believe that the attack on Liberio would’ve actually been coordinated. As in Erwin and the scouts wouldve been working with Eren on the attack instead of it being an improvised plan. The military would’ve been more structured, Floch would be more willing to work alongside Erwin than Hange, and Eren wouldn’t have been viewed as a distrustful wild card who could move more freely.

I have basically always hated the opening. While my opinion on the song has increased, I still don’t like it as an opening. I feel that it doesn’t fit the tone of the arc. And the opening animation is full of lots of good symbolism sure, but it’s also full of blatant spoilers. Other openings have spoilers in them, sure, but usually ones you’d only get once you’ve seen what they spoil or we can assume we’d be seeing in this arc, or actually happen in the episode the opening plays first in. But given the entire season is about stopping the rumbling and having an opening not only called “rumbling”, starts with the words “rumbling, rumbling, it’s coming.” and then showing the rumbling is just a blatant spoiler. It’s like if opening one showed Reiner and Bertholdt transforming into their titan forms,
