I saw this lineup dual headline with Testament at a small venue around '89ish. Randy sounded great and really knew how to work the crowd. (Which was admittedly waiting for Testament.) In the end, both bands killed it.

Well! Another metal death I learn of through youtube. To be honest this was the only Annihilator album I really really liked (and is one of my favorite albums in general), and his vocals are a big part of why, even if he probably wasn't what Jeff had in mind for a vocalist. Plus he had one of the coolest stage names in rock/metal IMO. RIP.

This scared me so much when I was 13/14 that I freaked and went into a month long period of horrible fear, but listening to it and watching the video now at age 39 I think this is just telling a very upsetting story about a child whose fears are neglected by her parents. Parents can never know exactly what is going on in a child's mind and also nobody can "read" another person's feelings. I think Annihilator wrote this with a good heart and this is for education purposes and to create a very dark atmosphere. It's really a great song and I wish Annihilator had done better for themselves here then they did. They were raved about in all my metal mags and the interviews I always read and thought they sounded like really cool guys, but being Canadian the industry in America gave them the cold shoulder. Our own great bands got the cold shoulder. Look at what happened thanks to poor marketing and promotion. It goes on now and there is absolutely no point in thinking anything is going to change. We have the corporate interests to blame not just for bands, but for far graver matters as well.

@@artymcecstacyface6269 Kinda. Depends on what you mean. It was well made, if we're talking about camera work, soundtrack and actors. And the initial idea - a young girl traumatized by the death of her brother and thus clinging to his music as a way to keep him close - was great. But the character itself... I'm just SO tired of movies and other media portraying metalheads as unstable, violent, and unable to function in a normal society. Still, I was enjoying the movie - until she BURNED DOWN the village's church for literally no reason at all, other than being 'inspired' by the recent black metal trend.

There are so many things to comment on about this song. There's the fact that the vocalist just appears at a certain point in this video, the fact that the second guitarist is ignored in the video, the fact that it has so many intros and sections to the song, but what I think is very interesting is how the vocalist managed to keep this song catchy as fuck with the vocals, yet there were multiple instances where he didn't rhyme the lyrics. As a vocalist/lyricist myself, I usually use rhymes in my lyrics, even when I'm writing this kind of music. It's crazy how he just made that happen. Much respect to him, may he rest in peace.

One of the best thrash albums of the 80s, unfortunately massively underrated. Never, neverland may have had better sales (and the only time I got to see Annihilator live supporting Judas Priest) were on that tour I never felt it measured up to Alice in Hell. RIP Randy

I love songs like this (see also Alice Cooper's Halo of Flies or Slayer's Hell Awaits), where the band has like four great riffs that most bands would kill to have just one of in their whole career, and just throws them out at the start of the song before it even gets going.

This song....what can I say, it gets more enjoyable every listen. The melodica segueing into thrashing riffonometry, the operatic vocal bits morphing into insane screaming..this song truly is a masterpiece. Another great one for people who love this song is "World on Fire" which has similar guitar hammering and driving beats..
