Amazing demo. I really love that music. It does indeed look way better running the .exe, though. Video just can't deal with all that detail.

Well. Video compression has its limits! :D This one is MEANT to be run locally! What an awesome example to show that :D

Absolutely stunning. I loved the use of the screendoor effect to give the illusion of shimmering stars. for those wondering the video here does not do it justice at all.

I'd really appreciate if someone could upload an 1080p uncompressed version to download.

+iliasasdf I'm sure it will be available on pouet.net or scene.org as the original exe files.
@realdonjoe8 жыл бұрын
+lordsqueak then you only need the pc that can handle it ^^
@lordsqueak8 жыл бұрын
You could try to encode it at a higher resolution, from the 1080p source, not gonna affect the resolution, but it will give more bandwidth for the compression.
@Annikras8 жыл бұрын
+lordsqueak it is actually a 4k (3840x2160) capture @ 60fps with an encoded filesize of 6.5gb (h264/aac) which I uploaded here as I already expected the yt encoder to crush it completely.. According to the overview, KZbin is still processing the data... Still, I'm all for running this demo in realtime as it will never look so good on here and there are plenty of fine lines/details which will not be seen (also it is not very demanding for hardware ressources).
@lordsqueak8 жыл бұрын
What I meant was, upload it as 2160p (or less) , so that when viewed on 1080p , you could go 1440p or something like that for the better quality. It's a bit of an "ugly" hack, but it seem to get the job done. ;) ps. 4k recording @60fps?? holy crap, mother of all PC's
@Annikras8 жыл бұрын
+lordsqueak yes, I understood what you meant ;) It was uploaded as 4k but somehow youtube is still processing it. I think it has something to do with the 60fps, because with 30fps captures there are no issues with higher resolutions. See kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKGloqqpprWZi9E for example (not 4k, but higher res) ;)

Aha! Yes, large files tends to take forever. And they got to make sure nobody accidentally played 2 seconds of a popular song in the background. ;)

Something wrong with YT compression?
@whalekit65706 жыл бұрын
yes and no. no - It compresses every video like that, there wasn't an error when processing this video. yes - it can't deal with a lot of movement in different directions all over the place. see Tom Scott's "Why Snow and Confetti Ruin KZbin Video Quality"
@BottomOfTheDumpsterFire8 жыл бұрын
Okay, how's this; upscale the 1080p version to 4K (still 60FPS) with a bandwidth as high as your original source, and then upload that; you have way higher bandwidth available and it won't look so bad, even in 1080p.
@TheNerd8 жыл бұрын
record it with something proper that records a very high bandwith like over 100 mbits. try magicyuv. try to compress with vp9 or vp8 or x264 at a crazy CRF like 5.... then upload at a higher resoloution like 1440p. you may upscale it if you cant record above 1080p but this will greatly improve the quality of the video because over 1080p you get much better encoding settings from youtube
@Annikras8 жыл бұрын
+d3xLP 's Sci-Fi Channel Actually this was encoded to a bitrate of 109738kbit/s Capture is around 4gb (X264/aac) , still youtube messes this up. With 30fps it would work better probably, but somehow KZbin has some problems with certain 2160p/60fps :/
@william_ytp8 жыл бұрын
youtube compresses it to around 12 mb/s regardless of how high quality the source video is :/

+Demoscene High-Quality Videos (Annikras) You could always upload the captures to archive.org, there are some demo captures there already.
@StrazdasLT6 жыл бұрын
KZbin re-encodes your video no matter what you upload now to save server space and its using VP9 for it which hates many moving particles in the scene (also fucks up the same way with leaves blowing in the wind). You need to look for the initial encode or run the runtime yourself to actually watch this.
