Alt to pocket watch plan is use a route that: buys a fixed amount from Archie, sells enough for a small profit, then delivers the rest to your main island. Bypassing that production chain.

Love watching and skimming through these videos. I’m a decently good anno veteran (I never have any problems surviving or other problems). But it’s fun to see how differently one can play the game! For instance my recent game I got to investors without going to any other map. Keep up the content!

Small tip for the brick dry-house: they are affected by the General Foreman specialist, and while producing steel beams in Enbesa isn't useful, the workforce reduction is very sweet (same with New World, those workforce costs are insane)

It's funny you made a guide like this. This is exactly what I do for Embesa. Everything you did and said just minus the pocket watches. I don't need them. Make plenty of money without having to sell anything if I don't want to. Not sure why so many people have so much trouble with money in this game. Actually I do know why. They build production chains earlier then they really need them and then don't upgrade enough of their citizens to use the chains.

maybe it depends on the settings? but all anno players i know go for easy settings and most of them even without AI, when you have money problems on easy settings then you should play something different :D

Are you talking about Enbesa? Remember that you cannot use commuter piers in this region but it sounds like maybe you are through a mod.

Jip, the Pocket watches and also Gramophones are insane. I make 3 million coins on every run, which later increases even more. I was at a balance of 50 million coins in no time and then it really doesn't matter anymore if you have a negative coin loss... Game over. Lol

Once you start trying to get as much out of Enbesa as possible, you will soon realize that every square inch of fertile soil is needed, even if you have tractors and fertilizer. A large scholar population will drain Enbesa quick. Thus, the canal going through the town to the fire department is a complete waste of fertile soil. The canal going to the fire department should be leveraged for farmland or cattle, not under houses! That was my point😋

Do you use a schooner because of how fast or slow Archie's stock refills? Would a klipper with its ability to load all of it be too fast for that? Or what are your reasons? Great video as always.

Archie wouldn't be able to refill fast enough for a clipper at any point really... I have found that with a schooner you are always guaranteed 100 every trip.

You might be right.. I usually play on expert settings and it's a lot slower on the refill. Roughly half. I can do the calculation later to double check.

@@TakaKZbin I saw, but for example no visualization. The quest dialogues imo didn't show that much either on the wiki. I'd love to also see the cutscenes of siding with Archie, or having enbesa fall into anarchy but I find the main question rather tedious and not fun to play again

Oh the main quest... There are flowcharts for the side quests for the tribes. I have a playthrough stream for the main quest pinned in the comments.

You said at 16:38 minutes, you could leave the region on autorun. I researched to learn more about this tactic but could not find any information.

All that means is that the region will not need your attention. If everything is set up correctly and operating as it should, then you can leave the region without worrying about something not being supplied, etc

I just recently ended a war with the old world pirate faction. Her ships dropped a lot of gold. I'm going to take that gold and trade it for pocket watches then sell them in Enbesa.

I consider setting up a trade route between Achiebald and Ketema a bit of cheating, it's basically money for nothing. I still do it though. :D Although I use a Clipper, not a Schooner. Archie replenishes the Watches quicker than it takes the Schooner to get to Enbesa and back. Don't forget to add Gramophones later on. ;-)

I feel the same... I mean, it's trade and this game should be about it, including getting huge profits on some stuff, that's how it was with spices etc. But simply in terms of game balance this seems much detached from whole situation and broken.

Profit doesn't always mean island profitability... Enbesa is major profit bc of buying pocketwatches and gramophones from Archie and selling to Ketema.

Enbesa just doesn't make much money on the islands.. that's all. It's a support region.

it really doesn´t matter so much.... it´s more a distraction then a profit in early game. i went there after my world expo was build,by the time i had good ship and all the items i to get all the rewards from the lion-journey (you don´t have them early game) once you´re there you can overtake the whole area pretty quick with war or with money....your choice ;)

New world is your first priority always.. I would go to Enbesa after you do that but just make sure you have at least 70 influence or so to claim about three islands.

I know this is old but I disagree with unlocking Embasa as early as possible. Instead I advocate loading as many faith bonuses as possible and farming the trip. If you manage to get the polygot from the holy city stop twice you can only take those two and farm over 250k per trip in followers.

Meanwhile once you setup pocketwatch trade you can make a few million every 20 minutes or so... so I'll have to disagree haha. Your idea is interesting but you have to always pay attention and it's a bit more unreliable.

hi taka, so I do some town hall item mod that provide all enbessa need, to know where is the stop point to unlock scholar. because I'm too lazy to redo all the stuff. I answer yes to ketema, I do enbessa normally, taking care of elder, and avoid clicking the 3 tribes (unification). the first scholar mission will be available after town hall available, just keep proceed to focus of taking care elder, 1500 elders, I think. in ketema mission, I took photo, answering question, yada yada yada archie coming in, then after 5 dried and 5 tapestry mission and archie refuse to join alliance, scholar building is unlocked, I did it 3 times and it is always before seafood stew mission. I will do trials again, but this time I will colonize elder outside the main island, to reach 1500 elders without providing them with complicated things, (without the mod item and I will do at with old world 0 investor, just in case...) I hope this help, because I couldn't find any guide on the internet.

Update I have 742 engineer 0 investor and 384 elder in 2 island, (to avoid 300 elder needs). I say yes on everything and only do Quest under The Rise of Emperor Ketema. And after Archie got pissed, there's is a quest : Official Hospitality The Cuisine where Ketema need 2t seafood stew, while biniam gives The Research Institute.

@@TakaKZbin so you see, I don’t like enbessa, I prefer the arctic. When I searched on the internet, it’s only you that give a detail information how to unlock scholar. But I don’t know why, I don’t want to skip enbessa storyline , and thanks to your video I know that unification is a world mission, optional. So I want to know when do I stop the Rise of Emperor Ketema quest to unlock Research Institute. I’m new in this game but when I see the mod, it just a couple line, so I mod myself to solve the enbessan needs, so that the other quest that triggers when I have thing in my warehouse doesn’t pop up. With storyline active, it’s 300 elder and archie reject the alliance to unlock Research Institute And 1500 elders to build scholar house.

Technically there's no such thing as easy difficulty... To play on standard normal difficulty from the selection screen then yes there will be one AI that will expand on their own accord. You could do a custom settings though and remove the two-star AI

Yes and that's done at the late investor stage of the game when you unlock access to the cab assembly line. This video is about something you can do to make money at the early artisan phase of the game... It's not the same thing lol

Honestly once I pass 1mil coins then the amount of coin I have is inconsequential. You're going to cap out eventually at 1 billion anyways and unless you sit there and reroll at a neutral trader for 20 minutes you're never going to run out

@@TakaKZbin I always play against 3 hard AIs and I can assure you that money has some real importance for many gaming hours :-) I can understand though that money is inconsequential for the majority of players, given most players prefer to play without any challenging military game (not a critic, as long as my own playstyle is not criticized!)

I typically play on low income and with at least two 3-star AI... But I don't do combat and I quickly set up trade agreements with them as fast as I can. Same with the pirates and I always play with them on hard. Even then, as soon as I can I start trading watches and money is just irrelevant to me haha. But if you're someone that plays the game with combat in mind and you have a lot of warships and other stuff going on then I can totally get money always being a little sketchy for a while!

So on purpose, I don't do the watches trade and a few others, the only one I allow me in fact is some soaps to Ellie.

I have in a current play not gone to Enbesa for a real long time...The current AI is an ALL girl play with Margeret, Berryl and the young girl...I got Margaret sorted quickly but kept her in game as it was fun. Once I went to Enbesa she had already claimed ALL islands...needless to say, it did not take much to take them all away....as she has done nothing with them. Sadly Berryl took her last island in Enbesa (one I left her) and thus eliminated her from the game.... Newer produce clay here...I just bring it all in from other regions... Pocket watches is great...but Gramophones....now that is money? The Enbesa story is just really tiresome... Another great episode Taka!!

You can bring Clay over before you get to elders so you already have some available but if you haven't then why sit around and wait for a ship to bring some when you can just produce the clay yourself until you have your trade route from the old world going? It's just a matter of timing on that one. You want to get your mud bricks going immediately.. so either have Clay already available or set up the clay pit in this region until you have some coming in from another region. Gramophones are not available from Archie until engineers and you cannot sell them to the emperor until 300 elders.. That's not what I would call early game and not what you can do immediately like you can with pocket watches.

I skipped the main story line and as a result I couldn't build the research institute (Had enough residents and completed everything else). Totally stupd. From now on I only play with the main story line to be safe

I don't know what happened with that but I skip it all the time and you can still build the research institute. It has separate unlocks if you skip the main quest line. It's been like that since it released.

There is a limit to the amount of canals you can build, so putting that fire station on the far side and then having a long canal through town is just a big waste. You could have moved the firehouse to the other side of town, or just a few blocks down to the end of your "nubs" in the empty slot on the street.

Very lame to buy from an AI just to sell to another AI imo, are you like broke? No. Trade route for crying out loud... can't imagine being that desperate for money in this game. Makes more sense (and much more money) if you're at least producing the pocket watch. Even that is kind of pointless.

It is arbitrage.. Just like using Docklands to buy, say, coal and iron ore to make steel.. Or grain and hops to make beer... (and then trading the surplus beer/ steel to buy more coal/iron or grain/hops With a schooner and $10000 to invest, by reinvesting the returns of trading pocket watches, you can be doing 100 pocket watches within 11 voyages. (by the 5th voyage if you start with $100,000. Compare that with the cost to produce the watch (including land squares necessary for the various industries..)
