Announcement of Retirement! Japan's Oldest Steam Train in Kyushu, SL Hitoyoshi 58654

There are 10 sightseeing trains in Kyushu. You can decide on your travel journey based on your favorite sightseeing train model or route. (But now there should be 9 left, because SL Hitoyoshi has retired.)
Experience riding Japan's oldest steam train in Kyushu, SL Hitoyoshi 58654 (Steam Locomotive Hitoyoshi 58654). March 24, 2024, marked its last day of operation. We were fortunate to ride it before it ceased operation. We also bought some related souvenirs for keepsake. We traveled all the way from Tosu Station in Saga Prefecture to the final destination, Kumamoto Station (total travel time is 2 hours and 22 minutes). The total ticket price for SL Hitoyoshi was 3,360 yen (which can be split into a ride voucher of 1,680 yen and a reserved seat voucher of 1,680 yen). It's an all-reserved-seat train (remember to buy both tickets together, otherwise you won't be able to ride!).
Although you can no longer experience steam trains in Kyushu, there are still opportunities in other parts of Japan! So, there are still chances to experience riding steam trains.
