Okay everything was pretty good organized, interesting, fair and all so far but I want to make only one suggestion: PLEASE get reporters who are more close to science community and can ask their OWN, INTERESTING questions rather than just asking same stuff over and over (even if it was already answered)
@jimharper2180
@jimharper2180 2 жыл бұрын
I think they ought to have both reporters from media that caters to the general audience and reporters from media that is more technical. After all, the vast majority of the people who read the Nobel Prize in the news are not going to be very sophisticated in their understanding of the science.

After having watched the whole section for the chemistry award, the most relevant question was done by a camera man with applied function in comparison to m-RNA, which sounds like a simple question but actually has merit to it for overlap in for example the pharma industry ... But that question was avoided on basis of it overlapping to another award which is unfortunate. It is important to understand that information also needs to be presentable to a bigger mass of people, with the majority having little to possibly no understanding of chemistry, so it needs to be simplified to a degree but once the entire subject is announced as "a structure that can modify molecules" you lose any and all integrity of what the work is about to even interest people.

List should not feel like he is working on these alone now. Here in Japan too, Hayashi from Touhoku University developed the Jorgenson-Hayashi catalyst. In Toyohashi University of Technology, Haraguchi and Itsuno are also working on polymer supported chiral organocatalysts which enables easy separation of catalysts. In these 20 years, alot of people have realised the potential of asymmetric organocatalysts.

I reported an ant synthesizing amino acid proline instead of serine when an antenna grew into a pair of false walking legs.This mis_sense occurs when in the DNA MA guan in nucleotide gets replaced by adenine. So, ribosome pick up the altered codon which now reads UCG, instead of CCG, making an incorrect amino acid proline instead of serine and antenna Pedia mis sense ùs the result whOz image has no mirror images, hence ant can synthesize proline in missed mutation instead of serine by its own altered genetic codons. Therefore it is clear that glycine is the only amino acid which has no asymmetric carbon atom,hence it does not have mirror image. But how is proline (mis_sense mutation in ants forming a false_pair of waljing legs the antennapedia which grows on the left antenna)made by asymmetric organocatalysis,which is its own mirror ìmage.it's sound ridiculous

Congrats to Drs. List and MacMillan! The is a revolutionary achievement especially for biochemistry. This new family of tools gives us the ability to play "Legos" with many molecules. The achievement allows the creation of novel drug therapies, biological substructures, and even other catalysts.

A comment about the press pool. A few of the same press faces were there today and so it was troubling that the same question was asked again from earlier Nobel 2021 announcements. Hope the press spends more time preparing novel questions.

Two professors made tremendous contributions to the field of organocatalysis and are certainly well deserved for the prize, but to say organocatalysis was unknown until their discovery is not true.

S, it happens. Newton would have got ideas from his peers or students or seniors. Ultimately some one is lucky. But the larger world is luckier. But we have to carry forward. Innovation out of innovation and then another Prize. Otherwise why not Prize for some pre-ancient woman or man. Let it be another catalyst for invention innovation or discovery though serependitiously or accidental or unintentional "piracy."
