Annoying BMW X5 E70 mysterious water ingress Anybody know what this could caused by? @paulcruse

It does it when it has been parked for a day and it has rained.
2009 BMW E70 X5 Can’t quite figure out where it is coming in. I don’t think it is coming from the sunroof drain plugs, because they don’t drain there. Any ideas?

I think the tire is sling in it in that lower seam where the water is sitting. Run a nice neat bead of good clear silicone. Like GE Silicone II . The depot carries it. I've been using it for decades daily . Shits incredible. You might want to take 2 or 3 minutes and mask off with painters tape so you end up with a crisp pro looking seam. Pack it in there a bit don't just let it skim coat the seam. It's worth a shot . I think that's where it's coming from or you would have seen a water line from the top at some point it would still be wet.

Take the rear door cards off and check that the door membranes are still fully sealed to the door if not they allow water to pass down to the inside of the door as apposed to the drains at the bottom of the doors seen this on a few x5s and seems to be the rear doors that are a problem

Hi You have to clean the sunroof drainage. That common issue.

Thanks. I think the sunroof drainage comes out at the back of the roof at to top of the tailgate and somewhere down between the front door and front wing.
