I think they’re were issues on set that caused the whole show to get rewritten. If the rumors are true. The Cassie storyline was supposed to be Jules (which would make more sense honestly) But the actors Jules and Nate allegedly don’t get along. Kat’s actress flipped out on Sam and he cut all her scenes and I think Sam is a perv who just wants to see Sydney Sweeney naked any chance he can. She had to ask to get some of her nude scenes cut. He just uses that girl 🙄

@@Ries41794 I really don’t like Sam and I also think he’s a weird perv. Personally this is how I would have structured them. Since they wanted the aesthetic to switch up and be more warm and almost have a sunlight touch they could have based this season at the kids summer camp or something like that. And then in the next season have it be them in college or the transition to college. And I guess they could end it off with season three or have season four follow them with other things but honestly the actual show’s season two felt pointless.

@@Ries41794 yeah, they had that whole special episode implying Jules was still in love with Nate so her sneaking around and Nate being the catalyst for Rue/Jules breaking up would make more sense. They even had the promo of Nate grabbing onto Jules which implied they had some storyline coming but then nothing came of it. Not to mention with Maddy and Jules getting more close while Jules is encouraging Maddy not to be with Nate but still getting with him would’ve made more sense than Cassie randomly falling in love with him despite them never having a single positive convo at any point previous to the season. Plus the situation would the tape also ties into things where maybe initially Maddy wanted to give Jules the tape but then upon finding out she has gotten with Nate, she wants to release it only for Nate to have to retrieve it. It also then gives Nate a reason to expose his dad but not expose Jules since it seems like his dad got exposed for the other recordings and stuff he did rather than him sleeping with Jules if I remember correctly. Just… so much would’ve worked a lot better.

This movie feels like it's downplaying what these kids did, especially the girls. No one ever apologized to shouko except for Shoya. It feels cheap.

@@MariAnimates that's cool and all but literally, 99% of bullying in stories/movies ALWAYS shows the perspective of the victim. If you wanted another generic type like that, then you could easily find it on the internet in seconds. This is one of the rare ones that actually show the perspective of the bully. It shows a few realistic aspects because the perspective is a bully who is remorseful for his past. All the other people who participated in the bullying, aren't delved into because it's not their perspective. In real life, there will be bullies who don't feel bad and won't ever apologize (like the mc's old/ex-friends). To wish for that is just a fairy tale ending. If everyone apologized, THEN you'd really feel like it's cheap because those people won't mean it. There is no downplaying the bullying in this movie- they literally showed how the bullying got and didn't give any excuses for why they did it or any sad backstories to excuse it. It was only to show the aftermath and effects of the event. I don't believe stories like this should only focus on the target, that's what makes the stories overused. People like to see variation. It's like how seeing villain stories are currently more popular than hero stories. This movie shows a good example of those who will never change and those willing to change.

people pointed out to me that in a silent voice during the choir scene if you looked at kawai aka Miki you will see her opening her mouth sort of pretending to sing which made shoko start singing in that scene that and the laughing during the bullying makes her a accomplice to the bullying so watching her play victim and throwing everyone else under the bus was definitely infuriating

Personally, I don't see it as her intentionally manipulating him It was a trauma response, the whole movie. Her trauma was so intense and she never got any help for it. I'm not saying that automatically makes everything ok, but it's why I understand and don't hate her

Cassie is selfish and yet has zero self respect for herself and others. She truly believed nate was worth all of the bullshit she put her friends and family through even after watching her best friend get abused by him. she relized she fucked up when maddy finally rocked her ass.
