My first time on a plane was with my dad. Our seats were separated (he was a seat in front of me) and I wanted to sit next to him since It was my first time flying and being a little nervous. He refused to switch seats, and ended up sitting in his seat and talking to a Mormon for an hour while I was stuck between two middle-aged men talking about power plants and craps. They spied over my shoulder while I read and listened to music, then downgrading my taste in "murder music" (metal) and reading a book that was "encouraging suicidal thoughts, necromancy and dark stuff (it was a god damn biography of Zak Bagans' book Dark World). It was the most uncomfortable thing ever, because I need personal space and HATE being touched, but the guy on my left had no sense of personal space, as he was practically leaning on ME. I had terrible anxiety induced from their interactions.

I remember when I was flying from Florida back to Michigan. I was stuck between 2 toddlers who were the most annoying people ever. First, they were stealing my food, then they ripped my earbuds out, then they start drawing on my shirt with a sharpie. Then they both just laid down on my lap. I put my table down in front of me to sleep on it, and the guy in front of me reclined his seat. So I jerk back and accidentally open up the shade and have sun in my eyes. So I closed it and woke up the toddlers. Then they continued annoying me for the next 8 hours.

I know this is for fun and stuff, but when they tell you to turn off your phone (usually during taking off and landing) it is very serious. The electromagnetic fields or whatever your phone gives off can create a problem in the electronic devices of the plane. This is true, in fact airplanes have crashed because of this. So you better turn off your freaking phone for a few minutes.

And then there are those people that have their kids on the plane, and the kids are out of control; the kids are being loud, causing a ruckus, they're crying, yelling, fighting with their siblings, they wont stop talking, they're throwing a tantrum, and just being rude and disruptive in general.... and the parents aren't doing anything about it. Sometimes they try to calm them down, but nothing is working. Or, when a kid is sitting behind you, and they're kicking your seat, or they're in for the of you and they're turned around, and they won't stop staring at you.

I was on a 10 hour international flight from France to the US and this horrid older woman kept slamming her seat back into my knees. The seats were really close together and I already didn't have room to fold my tray table down, then she just slammed the seat back and I practically had her head in my lap. I did the only thing I thought to do after already being awake for 14 hours - I grabbed her head rest and forced her seat back up into the sitting position. I asked her to please not sit back because she was hurting me, but 10 minutes later she did it again, so I forced the seat back up and held the seat up for at least 30 minutes by locking my arm in place so she couldn't lean her seat back and hit me again. She started screaming at me in the middle of our flight and calling me every awful name in the book, even though I had kindly asked her to stop because she was physically hurting me with her actions. Finally, a nice couple across the aisle called a flight attendant over and the flight attendant made the woman stop yelling at me. I explained to the flight attendant that the other passenger was hurting me and that she already bruised my knees, and then the older woman said I was being rude for holding her seat up. Luckily, our flight attendant agreed with me and re-seated the woman in the back of the plane cause the woman refused the first compromise of not leaning her seat back in exchange for a travel voucher. That was probably one of my worst experiences flying.

I went to Peru to celebrate my great-grandma's 100th birthday (she's 101 now). My mom, sister, and I were at the airport to leave and get home. While we were waiting in line at security some random airport employee comes up to me and is all like, "You were randomly selected to go through extra security measures!" And I was like, "Um what?" She said it was just a thing they do for whatever reason, and it could be anyone from an old man to a six year old. Mom lets me go with her because there isn't much else she could do. Then she goes through my stuff and pats me down. We weren't even anywhere private, she did it in front of everybody and it was so awkward and I was annoyed. But then I started thinking, "If I don't like this, then I wonder how a six year old who hates strangers touching him would feel."
