Annual Inspection Part 1: Air Frame Structure and Flight Control

Senior Restoration and Maintenance Manager Jason Muszala explores the Corsair air frame and flight control inspection. The Corsair's unique design includes fabric, wood and metal each demanding inspection and maintenance. We climb inside the aircraft fuselage, known as the "Hell Hole", to see the aircraft structure and examine the inside. Very well done and I love the fascinating tidbits. I honestly had no idea about the prevalence of spot welds in the construction or the giant hole in the floor of the earlier models! Must've been very convenient for those long flights!

I’m a aircraft mechanic with a structures licence .I always wondered how they repaired battle damage in the field with all those spot welded panels on the Corsair .
