PRIESTS WERE ALLOWED TO MARRY BACK IN THE YEAR 900. MANDATORY CELIBACY IS JUST A MAN MADE RULE AND ONLY FOR BUSINESS!!!! BRAINWASHED WALKING PRIESTS THE CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS. THE DISCIPLES OF JESUS WERE MARRIED MEN AND WERE THE VERY FIRST CHRISTIAN PRIESTS!!!! NO WONDER SO MUCH EVIL PENETRATED INTO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH WITH EVIL SEX SCANDALS. EVIL ENTERS WHEN MEN ARE FREE TO MAKE SUCH STUPID RULES. SHAMEFUL!!! MAY GOD BLESS THE ORTHODOX CHURCH...THEY ARE VERY SMART AND REALLY UNDERSTANDS THE REAL CHRISTIAN THEOLOGY!!!!!!!!! Except the Bishop in the New Testament used to be more like a priest of a large parish now. Paul was more like today's bishops. Bishop Longin of the Serbian Orthodox church is in charge of the entire middle section of the US. From Canada down to the Gulf of Mexico.

The church was meant to be one. All Christians should start respectful conversations and unite together. That's what Jesus would have wanted. We're more divided than Muslims right now. End divisions and hate. How can we fight the growing atheistic secular world if we can't even stop squabbling amongst ourselves?!

If St. John Chrysostom walked into a modern Greek Orthodox Church for divine liturgy and St. Francis of Assisi for Holy Mass, who would be more lost and devastated at the changes to their liturgy and their beliefs since their previous days on Earth? From my perspective, Rome went its own way in 1054 and resumed with further schisms in the 1500s - it is the Western inclination to mind over spirit. The fracturing accelerates now at a comedic pace as every Western man seeks to be his own patriarch. Pope Francis has slashed the availability of Holy Mass at the Vatican, no longer allowing visiting priests to celebrate their customary daily Masses. Papal abuse came into stark relief with the change in the meaning of God that accompanied the attempted change to the earliest profession of Christian faith - the Nicene Creed. Now papal abuse includes blocking masses at the Vatican and the final destruction of the remnants of the 1500 year old heart of Catholic practise, the Latin Mass.

@@juliejackson7913 My goodness. Father Maggos is one of the most diligent teachers on matters related to the Orthodox faith on KZbin, making explanatory videos and answering questions each and every week, not because he has to, but because he wants to. He is an excellent teacher who always stresses the importance of respect and reverence where it is required. He puts a lot of time and effort into this channel, and making his church reach out to viewers everywhere, and he has brought people into the faith through his online ministry (he played a significant role in my own conversion, and I live on the other side of the planet). And you'd report him to the Archbishop because there was a light-hearted joke in the video that you didn't get? To me this seems extremely petty, and rather un-Christlike. Extend some charity to your fellow man, including your priest. It's not like he was goofing off during the Divine Liturgy or cracking irreverent jokes during the preparation of the Communion.

Christ never meant to abandon a wife and children, such thing would be a negligence and the Lord would never ask from us unfair decisions, but to better keep away from your family if it keeps you away from serving (praising) God. Orthodox clergy is the proof that you can serve God and serve your family and community at the same time.

1 timothy 3: 1-2 3 This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; I guess orthodox dont care to follow the bible.

The Bible is a book. Jesus founded a Church, he didn't write a book. He gave authority to his Church and the Church gives the authoritative interpretation of Timothy. The passage means that a man who has had more than one wife cannot become a bishop. And it doesn't mean that marriage is necessary before becoming a bishop; Paul never married.

@Vartholomeos.
@Vartholomeos. 4 жыл бұрын
@@lapun47 Cooperation with other churches is fine, dialogue with other churches is fine, learning from other churches??? I don't think so. Orthodoxy is the ONLY true Christain faith in the world, left by Christ, to his apostles and Holy Fathers who under the influence of the All Holy Spirit carry on the faith until today. How can truth learn from errors, ie Roman Catholic church, Protestants, Anglicans and so forth. The above mentioned have human beings that are responsible and started their "faiths", from the Roman Bishop, Martin Luther, Henry the 8th to name a few. These "faiths can be traced back to these individuals, not Christ our Lord God, of which the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, the "Eastern Orthodox Church" as it's known today, can be. Our faith does not need any influence, or to learn ANYTHING from the heresies of other denominations, as it is perfect, for it came from perfection, Christ. If anything, other Christian faiths should be learning from Orthadoxy! Not saying AT ALL that Orthodox Christians are perfect, far from it, but we are blessed to have the perfect faith to guide us, hopefully to our Lord God and Savior, if and only if we are worthy. God bless and please pray and forgive me, a sinner.
@lapun47
@lapun47 4 жыл бұрын
@@Vartholomeos. Thanks for your reply. When I wrote "This does not mean abandoning our beliefs or adopting theirs" I was indeed suggesting that we do not need to learn from the non-Orthodox denominations. But I would suggest that some level of contact across denominations is necessary if we want other Christians to learn anything from/about us. This does not need to be anything on the order of joint prayer or worship services and certainly doesn't mean inviting Anglican Women "priests" into our altars. Simple cooperation on a social project would be sufficient. I feel many of us Orthodox believers take a turtle-like stance, withdrawing our heads into protective armor rather than looking others in the eye. This may serve some of us well and allow us to think we are "protecting" Christ's original faith. But we are called to share that faith, not hoard it up for ourselves alone.
@Vartholomeos.
@Vartholomeos. 4 жыл бұрын
@@lapun47 Again, as I said before dialogue across the faiths, Christian and non Christian is sometimes good and fruitful as others may be enlightened enough to see the error of their beliefs and come to the truth. But prayer and celebrating liturgies I do not agree with at all, and we have MANY church cannons and STRICT rules that forbids this, even as far as some Holy Fathers, St Nectarios one, to deny even Good morning to a heretic. Not that the Holy Father was a bad man but under the influence of the All Holy Spirit knew that maybe the one in a hundred weak in the faith person started speaking to a heretic the Devil will, ever so slowly try to take them away from the right and straight path. These cannons were made for such people and priests, as the strong in faith can NEVER EVER falter or be influenced by the deceit of heresy, but the weak in the faith, layperson, deacon, priests, Bishops and..........Patriarchs can and have!! So we are NOT keeping heads in the sand but rather protecting the ones, through the centuries that if exposed to heresy, may fall into that sin. In the end I am sure the Holy Fathers that made the cannons against heresy, under the direction of the All Holy Spirit so strict new EXACLTY what they were doing, and that is also why they did not allow EVER for leniency as the centuries progressed. Have a blessed Sunday, friend in Christ.
