Saying OMG or using the Lord's name in a bad way is no laughing matter. There were a couple of friends of mine at work who used Jesus's name in a bad way. And how did I feel? I felt deeply upset about what they said. So what did I do? I plugged into my Gospel music and paid no attention to what they were saying. I don't understand why they were saying that. Maybe they found it humorous. But I didn't.

Quite. My good wife finds bad language very offensive and upsetting. Just wish more people understood right from wrong!

@@paulwilliams9207 I know what you mean. Do you know why they use God's name in a bad way? Because Satan has plagued their minds with ignorance and stupidity.

Wise advice. I found the photos included a bit carnal. Girl with phone image is in my humble view worldly. The peer pressure in high schools is terrible. The group vibe. Strong influence to be sheep. I think we need to remember who God is. Almighty Creator God. Never ever diminish God. His angels keep a record of all we think, say and do. We are accountable at the Judgement for every word, so use your words and tongue to glorify God and His Son.

Thou shalt not take the Lord's name in vain. We think that it's a more serious matter that our world today would have us believe. My wife is always telling me off! I am taking it seriously noe and trying really hard to avoid using the Lord's name in s wrong way. Today, bad language seems to have become far too commonplace, and accepted Thank you for this video hope it reaches many and causes people to think!!! God bless

You got that right Paul. Have you heard of Thomas James Kirk III aka the Amazing atheist? Well he's got a KZbin channel. One time, I watched one of his videos of him violating the 10 commandments of God. After he deliberately violated them, he began laughing about it and mocked God's wrath. So after watching it, not only did I disliked it but I found it appalling. I wouldn't recommend you watching any of his videos. Just simply pray for this heathen. And hopefully he'll acknowledge God's existence and stop being a blasphemer.

Another thing about swearing it can reflect anger inside. Which should be noted, the same as cussing with physicalnpain. Where kindness and compassion goes a long ways in healing others.

My, oh my! Perhaps saying things like this does sound quaint today. What of it? Are we not called to "come out from among them"? This is one of the ways we do that. Bad language may offend some. While it is not good to respond to it by becoming upset or angry (rather, pray for ourselves and the offender at the same time, that the harm not spread further). And while it does not offend some, let us also pray for those who are not offended, that our hard hearts may be softened by God's grace. I tend to think the heart of the matter starts just after "Our Father Who art in heaven" - here: "hallowed be they name". Father Maggos reminds us of how we use God's name in prayer, that it is holy as He is Holy. Calling upon Him in prayer is one primary way to hallow His Name and keep it holy. Any unholy or merely earthly use of it dethrones God; such use does not hallow Him or remember His holiness. "In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth." The earthly reference forgets Who God Is. There is a tendency also to think of "taking God's name in vain" as referring only to swearing, "bad" language or words. But how about hateful speech, put-downs, verbal abuse, spitting venom, rejection, and willful humiliation of others? Are these not examples of saying words that are just as sinful and evil as a technical "swearing"? There are two great commandments, one about loving God, and one about loving our neighbor. "On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets". Are they not then united into one thing, for how can we love God if we do not love our neighbor? These days, there are people who call themselves Christians, but who speak ill of others, attack them verbally (at least), accuse them of this or that. Are they acting as Christians should act? Then by what turn of word usage do they think to call themselves Christians? Is that not taking the Lord's Name (as a follower of Christ), in vain, falsely, without truth? And so repentance is needed there also. St Paul reminds us that one is not defiled by what one eats (goes in the mouth), but by what proceeds from our mouths. St Basil the Great reminds us in the first of the prayers before communion that God "does not desire with desire the death of the sinner, but that he should return and live." And so all foul use of language is inspired by our sinfulness, both using God's Name directly, or indirectly, or by abusing God's intent to save us, or by accusation of others that they may be hampered in seeking their own salvation. The subject of this video is the tip of a tip of the iceberg that freezes our souls.

Just a thought, not saying it’s right or anything but God knows the intention of our hearts and I know a lot of people nowadays use the word God in those certain expressions without even thinking of God, meaning they are not actually asking God to damn someone but it’s just more a noise than an actual word and for all intents and purposes doesn’t invoke the name of God even though it uses it. Equally I suppose this could just be considered an offence considering that it is the use of God’s name without any thought for God. As I said it’s just a thought and I’m by no means an authority on the matter.

Taking Gods name in vain is expressed as doing things that goes against Gods will as well as those things if you did them would be good, but you did not, is taking Gods name in vain. Where it should be considered a bit more, as the Bible even gives such example.
