the sandcastle episode established that both spongebob and patrick can manipulate sand at will, and since patricks house is just a sand pit under a rock it makes sense that he'd use his sandcastle skills to renovate it any time he wants

My own headcanon is that patrick really likes decorating and moving furniture from room to room and fills up the hole because having all that weight on him helps him sleep. Sometimes, he keeps it filled for security or not feeling like digging that room out

If his house is underground and the rock is closed how are the rooms so brightly lit? There's no light sources drawn on the roof and for the ones that are, they wouldn't be that bright or illuminate everything.
