The thing is, they weren't playing death-match, but team-death-match, which isn't a mod in the game (was removed in CS2), so the exploiters would change some stuff to trick the game to make it think that the community server is a Valve official server and enter team-death-match mode instead of the regular death-match. Playing normal DM won't get you banned since those servers with the exploits are invite only, the only way to get access is if a friend invites you, you cant join one randomly. So the "There is no wrong way to play" still stands, since the way they played wasn't the "right way" of playing the game. This could have been resolved if Valve fixed this back with the red medal farmers (they used this exact same exploit).

crazy how the guys that were doing this for red medals were perm banned. Not all of them were cheaters. But when it comes to big streamers doing it they get a temp trade banned.

they deserved it. they exploited the xp farm for clicks and views. and when they almost collected all the stars they then made a video about "VALVE SHOULD FIX THIS". valve did fix the problem and the clown streamers got what they wanted.
