The Struggle starts from Ambleside and heads straight for the summit of Kirkstone Pass. It is steep from the off and cruelly loses some height in the final third before the final 20% section kicks back up and has you gasping for breath at the top.

Thanks for video - did it in April 2018 as a practice for the Helvellyn Tri in September - it was absolutely hideous and made me plan to invest in some lower gearing and get more hill climbing practice in !!!

Thanks for this video mate, watched it a few times before attempting the struggle last weekend and helped me appreciate the scale of it. Took it easy up the first section and gasped up the last bit, hardly raced up it but happy to get up at all :) Great climb though and some awesome views at the top

Was amazed at how much of a struggle this climb turned out to be, really took it out of me, I'd give it 9/10 rather than an 8

What gearing do you use on your bike Sean? I've climbed the Struggle before but I was grinding the whole way.... I'm probably just not fit enough!

+TEHCHEEKYBAGGER 50/34 on the front, varies on the back between 28/26 down to 11/12. Depending on the route.

Hope you have obtained an 11 - 34 cassette
