Thanks for the update. Looks like a well worth road trip. At least you have parts worst case for your other machines. That towne and country is a pretty neat tractor as well. Looking forward to the next upload.

very nice tractors you found, I have 3 1970 MTD 960's and a 1969 MTD 860, one with almost mint dash, a hair line crack in the corners. I also do have a mower deck and a snowblower for it.

I sure miss the 1970 Fourteen Hundred I had years ago. I am happy to have a 960 again and likely wont let this one go

The Sears can be fixed even with that restorable steering wheel! lol I like it. The green one is nice for a MTD! Love that engine.

Atleast the Hydro-trac still has it's impossible to find Briggs Belt Guard. I had 4 SS14s and 1 suburban 15 and none of them had the belt guard. If you wear work boots like I do, that belt guard is pretty much a "Must Have". Starter pulley will quickly burn a hole rite through the side or the bottom of your left boot. Briggs engine is much much larger, both wider and taller than the Tecumsehs. Very very nice MTD Fourteen Hundred. It has the "optional" snowblower/tiller pulley and belt guard on it. I had to make the belt guard and buy a 4" pulley with 1" keyed hub for my Fourteen Hundred. Cast Iron Big block briggs powered GTs are my favorite. Not a huge fan of the Peerless 4 speed 2300 because they tend to pop out of 1st and 2nd gear under load and are known for having differential problems, especially if the transaxle has ever had any water in them.

I have been around enough of these tractors in the past to know the quirks of them but they are still great tractors. Frankly the MTD 960 and 990 tractors have nothing that is mediocre about them besides the steering. This one needs some work as its stiff but at least it doesnt skip. Must be an area thing on the belt guards because every one of my briggs powered Sears came with the belt guard however about half of the Tecumseh tractors I get are missing them like the 70 ss12 from the last vid

I think with some time and right parts that tractor could see more years. Survivor story starts now!
@71_sears972 жыл бұрын
Not sure I would call it a survivor because its not original paint and in nice shape but rather it would be revived to live on again!

I picked up an MTD last fall. This one is a Belmont. It’s not in horrible condition and it has a deck. Do you know anything about that brand?
@71_sears972 жыл бұрын
I dont know anything about that brand, all I know is they had 20 plus brands put on these MTD 860, 960, and 990 tractors
