Another AoE Archer? Takasugi Complete Analysis!

Takasugi is exactly what we'd expect out of a new quick looper! While some may be just looking at him as another AoE archer, he can be a solid addition to your lineup for both farming and challenge runs. In this complete analysis we go over his stats, deck, damage, and lack of niche to give you the full perspective on his kit!

Seen a lot of people talk negatively about Takasugi when his performance is actually pretty good. The issue is people letting their preferences and the multitude of other options cloud their judgement as to how this unit performs. Takasugi should be a fine addition to anyone looking for an AoE archer provided they have the supports to work with him! I just think Takasugi is neat. I got him to NP4, and I just think that he's fun to use! I don't even have either Skadi. Skadi has evaded me on both JP and NA, so I just try to get creative with how I use Quick servants.

His biggest pro is that he has what looks like a gunkatana and that's pretty fuckin cool.

Farming is so important they've forgotten about single target. How about coming up with more single target servants that can loop for boss fights. Not very many that can do that. Also they may be focusing on AOE, but it's in places that really don't need it. For example, how many five star assassins or casters are there that are good for loop wave clearing? I feel like they don't really pay attention to what they are making and the voids that need to be filled in the the various classes.

One thing I do find funny too is his kit seems like a mirror to Okuni's kit, even down to the Buster/Quick buff and the targetable skill CD

Quite ironic when you remember fujos and the husbando crowd have had a very shameful behavior toward Okuni that is almost like Genshin twitter (long story short: they hated on Okuni for "taking Takasugi's place"). But dont dare mention it on reddit or you get downvoted.

My honest opinion: 1. I expected him to be AoE Quick, so I wasn't put out when his typing was revealed. At the very least he's not Arts. 2. I actually don't like Sei as a character (one of the few) because I find her actually annoying; she's more useful as a foil to the other characters in the scene. So having an alternative is nice, and there's so many waifus on order it's nice to get a competent bro once in a while. 3. I do think his being either ST or permanent would have made his entry go smoother, with extra points for being both. Granted I don't know if they'll ever get around to making an ST Quick Archer because MHXA does that job so well and they've really pushed her as a unit. 4. Because I don't like Sei I've only ever used Nyatalante for my AoE Quick looping Archer. She kind of falls down on face cards, so if this new guy can actually hit harder than a wet noodle I think he's a good addition. 5. It really is too bad he isn't permanent.

1.) I think the non starter for me would have been another buster AOE 😂 2.) I've seen a lot of Sei comparisons for him, and its really weird because Sei absolutely struggles on refund with very low numbers. She's meant to be strong in niche scenarios. 3.) I actually talked about the possibility of being permanent helping him. Sadly I think he was doomed either way as a lot of people just scream "skip" the second a perm option shows up, opting to wait for a spook instead, which is funny too me because some absolutely don't roll enough for this have a decent chance of occurring. MHXA is a huge issue for the ST archers in general atm. 4.) Atalanta is one of his closest comparisons. That being said she has it really rough being totally refund based. This is one of the biggest issues facing quick as a system overall though.

​@Khadroth Yeah, I totally agree that another Buster Archer would have been very silly, to say the least; kind of like releading another AoE Buster Saber at this point. And as much as I'm iffy on their recent kick, I think a lot of people forget that for the first three or so years Buster NPs absolutely dominated the releases. At one point I counted, and I think as of year three there were still only 12 SSRs with Quick NPs? It was something like that. And yeah, I get the issues that his being a permanent might cause; he doesn't have that celebrity power like Nitocris. All in all, a bit of a shame - the context into which he was released just stacks the deck against him in so many ways, even if just by community perception.

A little late to this video but they could have made Takasugi so much more appealing and profitable with a small change. What if his second skill was instead on a 7 turn cooldown and had a unique effect not see in the game before (see below) Target one Ally: Skill cooldown reduction or 1, %30 battery, and if the target has a damaging NP grant them %50 crit damage for three turns, and if they had a support NP, instead of crit damage, grant them a %50 defense effect for 3 turns.

I still think feel he should have been an ST unit. His kit seems really useful for boss killing but AOE nps don't really work all that well for bosses if your name isn't Arjuna Alter.

Well, depends really. He seems like he should Crit well and that method of Boss killing is more than good enough imo. Muramasa is kinda like that, with his absurd 100% 3 Turn Crit buff, that for some reason hits even harder on enemies that try to evade it.

thank you for the video! takasugi is one of my roll targets as i've wanted him since he first showed up in guda6. to be honest i'm glad that you mentioned that double-skadi-oberon as an option because i don't plan on going for summer skadi (nothing wrong with her; i just have other servants i wanna roll for). even if it isn't ideal for looping, i can still put this man to work~

There's argument for Super Orion being a ST archer as his "support" np just helps him bonk the enemy harder but he's unusual case. Still wouldn't change that it's been way too long without one...

Speaking of Quick AOE Archers, in a triple Skadi set-up (i.e double Ruler Skadi and plugsuit Caster Skadi) can Santa Nightengale with 50% starting charge, 3-turn quick loop?

Against Knights(1.0x NP gain modifier), she can. But she'll need to use the 50% CE with NP gain buffs, like the Miyu one or Barghest Christmas CE. If you just use the standard 50% charge one she won't get enough refund

Probably not. Better solutions almost all have her starting at 100% charge. She'd only get about 30% refund with triple skadi (assuming no overkill). That also opens up more options like double skadi oberon, or double skadi castoria.

Would it be inaccurate to call him an overt power creep to Summer Illya? They have similar focuses with Crits and looping, their NPs have almost the same effects but Takasugi’s numbers are higher.

Watching an FGO vid and then get an FGO ad. Edit: So without damage mods, this dude can deal higher damage than Ishtar? Now I almost understand why they didn’t give him any niche. He would’ve probably outdamaged someone like Napoleon or Gil.

The damage list is deceptive because it doesn't include Ishtar's delayed attack up. But the fact he's even up there is crazy enough.

The community will complain that every unit is either under or over powered. It's all just posturing for waifu wars. Sei shonagon is a fine bar to clear

He is alright Servant, but nothing more really. If you already have an AOE Archer that can reliably farm (Jarcher for me), then you wouldn't really have a reason to roll for him. Especially not if you lack Support Servants for him (like me, lol).

Just use Rikyu or atalante
