I think I just learned something…did I hear Charlie say he runs the cable through the box swivel? So, for example, I just purchased a new Bridger 5 double long spring, all I need to do is run the 3/32 drowning cable through the box swivel, eliminating the need for a quick link and lock?
@AnArkansasTrapper10 ай бұрын
This is correct. Just run the cable through the side of the box swivel and out the bottom hole. It will slide down tland hen bind when they try to come back up not allowing it to move.

Thank you! I will do just that 👍

What kind of setters is he using
@AnArkansasTrapper10 ай бұрын
I am not for sure but I believe they were Bridger self-locking setters.

They used to call skunk something like black sable. They made the garments with the black backed skunks so it resembled a dark sable, but at a MUCH lower price than actual sable. Then some sort of truth in advertising law came in, and they had to call it skunk. Once women heard "skunk" they went ewwww, and wouldn't wear those coats anymore lol. Even though they were deodorized. Back then fisher was worth a lot and may have also been marketed as a sable. And muskrats had a different name, I think marsh rabbits, since musk and rat don't sound too appealing. And of course wild mink were worth a lot back then, and any classy lady with some means in the 1940's had a mink coat. I have my grandmas old mink coat, too small to wear though, she was a petite thing. Though she wasn't some really moneyed up lady, she had this thing about class, and wore "proper" clothing, and traveled first class on an ocean liner. I wonder if so many trappers are fixated on catching mink due to knowing about the whole ladies mink coat thing and the prices of wild mink long ago. Probably why I have a thing with catching them. Imagine how much they used to be worth and how popular the garments were. And imagine the smiles of all those farm boys when they caught a mink in a muskrat set!
