Good video Ruby! Honestly I think even making $100 in profit for your FIRST real anime con WITHOUT really any anime fan art is a win, especially when your table was THAT expensive!! And I agree with what you said about fan art. If you want to eat, you have to provide what's in demand to a certain niche and find ways to put it infront of them.... And people going to anime cons specifically are there to buy anime-themed stuff. It is what it is.

If you're able to, if you know you're going to be standing at your booth for a while---highly suggest you get a "kitchen standing mat!" They're made for people who have to stand a lot while cooking, washing dishes, etc. Highly worth it!

I've been in the game for 10 years now. watching your videos reminded me of my first con experience. I had a rough start, but I learned and grew and now I consider myself relatively successful. I hope you're taking notes and learning how to improve your next show. And yes, do some Fan Art to draw people in, then get them to check out your Original stuff. Good luck on your next show!

For your stickers not cutting, try this: Use the 2mm blade if you aren't already. The autoblade stinks. I have to go up to a 14-17 blade for any laminated stickers (depending on the laminate and paper). 3 passes, speed 1, force as high as possible.

I don't focus on time spent because when you run a business. It's more is the convention worth it. Did I make enough to come back. I calculate my time into the price of the product. I calculate my inventory cost but i didn't bother adding it since I didn't really make a profit.

I think you really want to build a brand on your own art. If you feel the need to do fanart, try cosplaying your OCs in popular media outfits so they get both!

Fellow west coast convention artist (and also a cameo user...) The cameo 4 randomly likes to stop cutting all the way through. Mine did the same thing, and it's a known problem among users. It happened when I tried an aftermarket cutting mat, but nobody can figure out the actual cause for the most part lmao. I managed to get it working for diecut again with the autoblade when I swapped back to the silhouette mats with the following settings: Depth 10, Force 11, Passes 7, Speed 2. I also tried the 2mm premium blade, and the cb09 blade, but I found the autoblade + silhouette mat with those settings the least headache ;-;

I have a cameo 4. I use the ratchet blade for everything. Its the best. Also maybe try more than one pass. Love your vids

I've done 10 passes on 33 pressure speed varying from 1-15 2+ times and it still doesn't cut through. I think the update my machine got just broke the pressure gauge. But maybe I can try the ratchet blade and it will work better!

They are on Amazon they are the songmic brand they have their own website as they are often out of stock on amazon Also thank you! But in the real world I can’t go to every show and be in the negative. I have to find shows that I can at least make back expense. Sadly bills need to be paid at minimum.

Really great video! Also it can be really hard to get people to care about original characters and buy original character art. I like to say that I have fanart at my table just to ensure I make table back even though my main focus is promoting my comic. It's rough though. It's cool to hear you are going to Galaxycon OKC (which I know has already passed by this time) I live in OK and wanted to check it out but I had conflicting plans. I'm excited to hear how it went for you.
