For me it crashed directly after I beat the final boss... Which seemed like a fitting ending for a game that kept freezing and crashing to me throughout (Switch version). I kept playing because there is some genuine charm to it, but hot damn this game is rickety af.

Yep that is the real ending. A happy perfect ending where everyone gets what they want wouldn't have left as much an impact. Gotta applaud the devs realizing that and bot giving a generic and they all "lived happily ever after" ending

I found it bittersweet. Kril realized that he didn't need a home, but he's still trying to find who he is. New Carcinia is having an ecological boom... But the long term effects will drown it in pollution. Things are good for now, but it won't last. Just like Carcinia, it just takes one bad crab to ruin the whole ocean. Who that bad crab was to New Carcinia... Well... It's debatable.
