Some might say that Gianni is this generation's Nolan North or Steve Blum, or at least the indie equivalent, since it's easy to find Gianni's voice in the indie sphere. It helps that Gianni tends to knock it out of the park with his performances, like with Gabriel in Ultrakill.

SPOILER: I think the end message is more, "Things are fucked, so you have to get involved." Kril finally gets his shell back, then he gives it away. I took that to show that he's not just going to hide anymore, he's going to get out there and try to fix things.
@slipknotboy555

That's good! From the way Yahtz described it, I was like - Oh, that's kinda funny and fitting, but it'd be nice if the message included a bit of *trying to do something about it.* Obviously, individuals can't do anything about our situation alone - but when we come together/organize, we can. That's where a lot of our (the working class - i.e., 90%+ of the population in an advanced capitalist country) power comes from - our numbers. That, and our labor (/withholding it). Because the proletariat are the ones who actually make everything happen. [Don't @ me, rightoids. Heh.]

3 spoiler free pieces of advice for anyone that wants to play this: 1. Get shell insurance for Yoccult the moment you can. Its ability is healing, so its not a bad one to always spawn with. 2. The optional impostor syndrome boss really changed my perspective on challenge modes forever. It explicitly says "well you didn't _really_ beat the game. You just coasted on a good set of power ups and you only had to beat one piece at a time with saves in between." Then when you beat the hard version it makes up some additional reason that didn't really count and introduces an even harder version _and that's what makes it the villain_. It really casts the games that are just implicitly doing that past the point where it's fun or interesting in a different light.

@@jurtheorc8117the art style looks amazing in Clash, but I’m sorry, the main character Pseudo looks very ugly and he’s what you have to look at the entire game
@jurtheorc8117
@jurtheorc8117 2 ай бұрын
@@TheBlueGoldenHawk Oh yeah, he's profoundly ugly in a step beyond Paradigm from the point-and-click game of the same name, and Abe frrom Oddworld. The entire Zeno Clash series has bizarre creatures in this bizarre world at its core. The design put me off at first too, and that's coming from someone who loves monsters. But it grew on me. And that's in part beccause of Pseudo's own personality, attitude and the feats he pulls off. Some have compared him to a character like Hellboy, or Clint Eastwood, or like a martial arts movie archetype. He's not a pretty creature, he hardly has a role in society (insofar as it exists in Zenozoik) or even contacts, friends and enemies. He lives as a hermit and doesn't feel like... a complete creature. But despite this cynicism, he's got sass to him, he's got wisdom, he can be delighted or even outright menacing if he wants to. Dude gets out of there to get things *done*. His voice is rather gravelly (courtesy of Glenn Wrage) and his personality is partially built on the sound of his voice, just like his companion, the Boy. When the Boy's grandfather is killed at the beginning, he beats up the bandit responsible, helps the Boy with the funeral rite, and stays with him for the night, but makes clear in a firm, but not mean or even grumpy way, that he doesn't want to be the permanent new custodian. To this end, he asks about the Boy's next of kin, to see who can take over the responsibility. If i can illustrate the dialogue and Pseudo's personality a bit with a key choice of dialogue from the game, between Pseudo and the Boy: 'I miss Grandpa sometimes.' 'You shouldn't. The dead are gone. They don't matter.' 'If they don't matter, why do they make us sad?' '*sigh*... I don't know.' (about ten, fifteen minutes later) 'Pseudo... what happens when we die? Do we go somewhere?' 'Where should we go? Zenozoik is all there is. Flesh to Dust, Breath to Wind. That's it.' 'Is that why the wind... sings?' 'I... don't know.' In this final bit, Pseudo's tone is less in cynicism or stoicism, but a degree of wonder. Like... "i've never thought of it like that before." I duly appreciate the reply and that someone took the time to look into Clash based on this comment. And that you can appreciate the world despite Pseudo's off-putting appearance. Thanks for the answer. Hope other games may be more up your alley, may Clash: AoC resonate with many more, and wish you a good rest of your day and week.

Two claws way up. Also there's one area in the game where you realize the slow plonking piano music of a world of magic fallen to ruin is a cover of Crab Rave called Crab Grave and you just start laughing at the absurdity of it.

The reveal of that zone has so many layers, like the enemy rebirth mechanics being environmental storytelling about how this was the ancient paradise that basically solved death, and the complete lack of poison goop while there's detergents and cleaning supplies everywhere implying they fought off the pollution before the fall (...until you get further inside and start finding soda cans and stuff again). For a brief moment you see something that's designed from the ground up to LOOK like something, instead of just being repurposed trash like the preceding 90% of the game. And then the facade crumbles as you get further inside. Legit better than both Farum Azula and Anor Londo, in Crabs the entire game builds to that moment instead of it just being a random cool skybox outta nowhere.

I think Yahtz was cooking when he mentioned there are other things to like about the so called "soulslike" genre besides blistering difficulty. Don't get me wrong, I've sunk me teeth into some games designed to be hard, I love Hollow Knight for instance, but part of my love for Hollow Knight comes from the lore, characters, artstyle, interesting setting. If all those other aspects were mid and it's only claim to fame was being really damn hard, I probably wouldn't like it much. It reminds me of the Fromsoft fans who would lose their minds when people suggest Fromsoft games could have difficulty settings and accessibility options, so more people can enjoy the game at a pace that works for them. I'd personally be very down with more games that mechanically play like Fromsoft games, but their charm comes more from presentation or story than trying to ape the ball busting difficulty of Darksouls or whatever other game. That's not to say similar games shouldn't have challenge, just, y'know, the emphasis could be in a place other than where part of the Fromsoft appeal is "Our games are particularly really damn hard.".

Hey Yatzee's back! Or maybe he never went anywhere and the giant, lumbering Slowpoke this platform has devolved into finally said, "Oh you liked that Zero Punctuation thing... hey here's that guy." So, one of the strongest and biggest crabs is a hermit crab. But its better known as the Coconut Crab.

What, no mentioning of the accessibility option of giving Kril a gun? Of changing the common standard of mocking a player by enabling easy mode instead to changing the mood of combat to comedic?

This game is surprisingly good for what seemed like just a meme game. The gameplay is pretty tight for a low budget title and the writing is surprisingly charming. I genuinely laughed out loud a few times.

That same parry mechanic showed up in Smash Ultimate. Release the shield button for parry. Time it wrong and you either shield it or take a forward smash to the face. It's about risk, and i appreciate it.

Here's that unfortunate comment that'll inform Yahtzee that Smash Bros. Ultimate popularized releasing the block button to parry as a mechanic. And that theoretically releasing Block to Parry could have been started by Street Fighter III's parry mechanic. particularly red parry.

I came up with a jingle for one of the 'brands' you can find in this universe, cheese guns. "Here's our Jingle for Cheese Guns Our baked and not fried Cheese Guns The only snack that fires back and it will blow your head off! Now see the bullets flying! Oh look, the fish are dying. The snack that fires back Cheese Guns!"

Picked this up after Iron Pineapple reviewed it and then it showed up on Yahtzee Tries, and ended up 100%'ing it over about two weeks. Finished it a few days ago. Great game, really fun. Also probably a good entrypoint to soulslikes as it has variable difficulty and other "assist" options to make the game easier. Great bosses, too. The Mantis Shrimp fight was like Dancer of the Boreal Valley mixed with Great Tiger from Punch-Out!! I did find some of the politics a bit... on the nose, though.
