My response was an overwhelming sense of 'Meh' This is the 3rd round of announcing the quietly cancelling a new trilogy, so I'll believe it when we get some actual details and trailers.

Hilarious that JM8 spent the whole hour just trying to get the game to run properly, bought a new version of it, and that one wouldn't even start! The authentic Skyrim experience.

To this day, The Force Awakens is the only movie i've ever gone to walk out of (only staying because it was mid summer and the theater's aircon was preferable to waiting for everyone else outside) Since then, my entire reaction to anything Starwars related is pure indifference. They can do whatever they want to it, i'll be elsewhere

I genuinely don't understand why people still care. It's disney's star wars. It's going to be boring shit. It will have darth vader again. It will have empire again. It will be safe and boring and it will ask you to 'member all the star wars things again. Why bother?

It doesn't matter that the original trilogy wasn't mapped out BECAUSE they was nothing to map out. Now with all the Pr-established story attached to it, they need make sure nothing interferes with each-other. YOUR ARGUMENT IS INVALID even in the original trilogy thing where changed between moves. Hence the meme: Luke kissing Leia

Still amazing to me when people try and say that The Last Jedi wasn't what killed Star Wars. You can lay out all the box office numbers you want, but the simple fact is fans were promised a three course meal that provided a so-so appetizer to a starving audience, then a giant turkey leg instead of the steak they were promised at the end of the appetizer, and then a "who cares about the dessert" experience since the lack of the steak was still pissing you off (with the dessert inevitably being a mess of chocolate and fruit and ice cream and soda, and everything else sweet, cuz the cook had no idea what to do)... TLJ made as much money as it did because fans were hyped to finally see a fully powered Luke in this universe, along with answers to what The Force Awakens had propped up. And that's it. But when we all got his "fart in the wind" death and answers that basically said, "who cares?", Rise of Skywalker was left with an audience who either also didn't care and didn't go see it or fans who had come along through two movies already and were willing to see how this mess was going to end. The Rise of Skywalker was a terrible movie while The Last Jedi ruined the franchise.

You might try empire earth, the original one. Not any of the sequels. I've never been a fan of RTS, but that game was, and still is from time to time, crack for me. I've never thought too deeply as to why I like it, but it just "feels fun" to play, even if I'm getting my teeth kicked in. Worms is another that comes to mind. Though, that one is more akin to lemmings at war than an RTS.

zombies is the life support of this series. bo1 was decent with their cia-blackops crazy storyline. bo2 was okay with the crazy takes on what happened after. bo3 lost me with the horrific acting and overdramatized seriousness of an obvious parody game. and the fact they quit using dedicated servers for MP. there's six of them now? huh. neat. good for them. at least someone keeps paying for it, i guess.

Disney should just stop announcing new Star Wars projects and then cancel them or put them on hold indefinitely. Also, they need someone, who gives the whole story a clear line and a straight way to go. I am sick of all this chaotic storytelling. The whole Star Wars Universe is now full with contradictions and retcons. Also, they need to keep everyone in line when it comes to the main story. One book tells me one thing, just for an episode of a tv show to tell me it was not like the book told me. Same with the comics and games. Seriously, before Disney took over, Star Wars was insane, but at least, it was supervised by someone with one vision for the whole franchise. Now it is just a mess with everything getting changed around and nobody cares about what was previously established in the lore. It is really sad and makes me ashamed of what happen to one of the biggest and best Sci-fi franchises in history.

it always amazes me how these big budget productions couldn't even have a good script, like are there simply too many influnces that's making the scripts bad or something? because for the money they have, the writers would probably be easily paid better than actually writing a book themselves...

I don't know. I considered walking out of the theatre towards the last quarter of "the Last Jedi". Despite the box office success, I think that is where the good will started to run out, so people didn't show up to the next projects. That's how it went for me. I know a lot of alt-right grifters high-jacked the narrative and created an easy target for the defenders of the movie, but I personally came out of the movie completely disillusioned by the entire fandom, despite having grown up as an avid fan. I did not show up to Rise of Skywalker, nor did I watch any other SW media. I did my research before even contemplating it, which is why I watched Mandalorian Season 1, but stopped after Season 2, because I knew the show had gotten too big to not get butchered by the suits. Let me guess; They come up with a convoluted reason why the "kid" should come back because he/she is too marketable to have a satisfying conclusion to? When one of my favorite actor-character combos of Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan was rumored to have his own show a decade ago, I was so hyped. When it finally became a reality, I didn't even watch the trailer. Disney, and a massive chunk of the quasi-monopoly of entertainment media, is run by people who have absolutely no idea what art or even entertainment is. Every blunder in the movies just scream of mismanagement, incoherent ideas forced together and a complete lack of direction. To me, this is a natural result of bad priorities. They buy massive IP's, not because they have some sort of artistic urge to add to their legacy, but because the numbers tell them that X amount of people will show up to anything with the logo slapped on, so they manage their budget accordingly (also to remove competition, but that's another story). They will squeeze every drop of fan good-will out of these IP's until there is nothing left, because that's how business works to these people. Since they can't add collectors editions and battle passes to theatre releases, the strategy instead becomes to cut costs where they shouldn't and hire yes-men that can't challenge the suits when they try to micro manage their vision into slop.

Dude! Last Jedi earning money doesn't mean it is a good movie. The Transformers movies by Micheal Bay made bank but besides the first? You'd be hard pressed to find people calling them good movies. Nobody rewatches that trash. Either way I'm apathetic at this point toward Star Wars. We aren't getting anymore good standalone movies.

I never thought of the problem with the sequel trilogy being that it wasn’t planning in advance. Rather, the problem was that Johnson went in a completely different direction than Abram’s wanted to go, and then Abram’s took back over for the third and spent so much of the runtime undoing what Johnson set up. You had two creators with visions of what they wanted using up precious screen time fighting over those differences, rather than telling a good, cohesive story. I think the fault for that lies mostly with Disney for not having that person with a cohesive vision in charge of all 3 movies.

I'll take one issue with your argument here, using box office numbers to measure the "success" of a film is very corporate think. There are plenty of bad movies that did big box office numbers. The most meaningful way to define success for a movie, at least if you're interested in getting better movies in the future, is whether the movie was actually good. BR2049 was brilliant but a bit of a box office disappointment. The Avatar movies are CGI showcases that barely attempt to tell a story but go gangbusters financially. Thinking of success in terms of financial returns is how we get more shit movies because the knuckleheads running these studios take all the wrong lessons, which is why they keep running franchises into the ground.

I can actually explain the Pause Menu. The Pause Menu for SOTN is actually what they used in the development build They didn't have enough time to implement the actual menu they wanted to use which would have been closer to the file select menu on gold-bordered window panes. The menu panes can be found in the sprite sheets and even icons for how they planned on denoting certain things. I'm not saying the actual menu they planned would have been better, but it would have been different.

I guess the problems all stem from "let's make a safe film" rather than "lets make a good film". A director like J. J. is not really known for his innovation. Sure, there was one television show at the start of their career... but that's it. Everything else has been rehashes of someone else's previous work. But... creating good films is expensive and risky. Can't have that when their return on investment in buying the rights is that bad.

Yep, as much as I hate “Rise of Skywalker”, I don’t hate Abrams. He’s a company man, like Ron Howard. He was never going to be somebody with a clear creative vision. His one big non-IP film (“Super 8”) was essentially a Spielberg knock-off. This is who he is. (And that’s okay. But he’s never going to be a guy with big ideas. And these movies need big ideas.)

I strongly disagree about the last jedi. It ended or atemted to end most of the cool/intresting plotlines from force awakens on nothing, without any payoff whilst providing practicly 0 new story lines for the third movie.

8:58 I don't think the "episodes of a TV show" translates very well considering I don't want to go see a "Marvel" movie or a "Starwars" movie that somehow is those things but also not really happening in the same "universe" so to speak. For instance, I don't see where it is a good idea to have something labeled as "Starwars" but turn around and find almost nothing related to the "Starwars" I know in it. At that point it is just using the name to gain attention while not actually having much, if anything, to do with that name. I've also not been too interested in the idea of "re-imagining" things in the universe if "things were different". At that point, just make a new IP, especially if you are going to change a lot of things.

The Last Jedi was an abomination. Critics were too afraid too downvote the almighty Star Wars franchise at that point but fans gave it one of the worst ratings differential on rotten tomatoes because it was hot garbage. After that critics could finally say what they actually thought about the new Star Wars films.

Symphony of the Night took the original Castlevania idea and expanded it by adding more JRPG elements. This may have been confusing for those coming from arcade style games, but for those with some experience of JRPGs, almost all of the UI made sense, including the clunkier parts. I immediately understood that HP was hit points and that I had to expect a little bit of awkwardness when it came to using items and casting spells. This is what happens when you innovate and combine different genres together. Not everyone will be pleased.
