The straps are overkill and not required or necessary by Federal DOT law with four points secured down. If you ever noticed a container truck with a chassis trailer with no straps, is because they are pin down in the four corners. You would be totally fine and safe with just those chains, they aren't coming off unless you hit something or roll over. These containers only weigh 4-6k lbs for 20fters and 7- 13k lbs for a 40fter. So not extremely heavy unless loaded with cargo inside. Hauled containers for 8 years. No issues with any state I went through or DOT stop I encountered. Climbing up on those containers is extremely risky and again unnecessary. If you fell off, think about the consequences of that and then the dramatic effect on your pay and future lively hood. Please look into an insurance plan like Aflac if you haven't already because workers comp doesn't cover you like they should, but a additional insurance plan will. Look into it, I have 24 years commercial driving experience with 8 years hotshot hauling containers etc. Stay safe 🤙🏼🫡

Great video Alex. I hope to get my CDL this yr. Hotshot looks like a interesting job. I’d probably do inclosed trailer and transport cars because they say that’s where the money 💵 is at. Why do you twist the straps on the containers and not keep the flush against them?

@Mr.AlexKogan 5 ай бұрын
@@roshondatorrancehoye4785 I don’t see any cons. Some may see the cons being the fee that you pay them but to me it’s well worth it. The pros are that you aren’t distracted while driving. Alex, love your videos. Keep them coming. Got one question. When using the 4 inch straps, I noticed you leave the twist in them. Is that a preference thing? Wen I worked at a fab shop and we had to load goosenecks, my boss would jump our ass for leaving the twist. 😅 Safe travels and look forward to the next video. 👍🏾✌🏾
@Mr.AlexKogan

Thank you! The twist is to prevent the strap from vibrating in the wind. If you leave it straight it will vibrate and can loosen up.

It’s not sharp but it’s squared off metal vs the sliding track that my winches I have in which is rounded. Usually I roll up my strap and put the excess in there to protect the strap but I didn’t have excess with the containers so you saw me putting a piece of an old strap in between there.
