Sometimes agood smack with an educating iron on the end of the puller will do the trick. You should try Caterpillar steering clutch flanges. They get pressed on a tapered splined shaft under 30 tons to 50 tons load with a hydraulic press. When you had to remove them 5 or 10 years later, you had to just loosen the tetaining nut a couple of turns to keep the pinion from going flying when it broke loose. One guy removed the nut and had 70 tons pressure pushing. Finally a rap on the outer diameter of the flange and the pinion went through a cinder block wall into the parts depatment. Fortunately no one was injured. When the spline released, the pinion left like a shell out of a cannon.

That perkins engine is an 1104 series..4.4 litre..in case you dont know you must replace the cylinder head studs..they are stretch bolts..there's also 2 different head gaskets. .standard gasket is used if piston protrusion is up to 15 thou..if over 15 thou a thicker head gasket is used

That is called a scissors gear - reduces gear chatter. Toyota uses / used them in the cam drive on many engines and I recently came across it in a 4x4 transfer box.

Isaac did a great job. He is lucky to be learning from the best. It's amazing how many engines you work on. Mechanics will always be needed. Wrenching on things can be used in many different industries. Robots need their innards worked on and is a specialized field that few know about but it is an interesting field. Good Luck.

Supposdly on the Fords there was software update for piston protection?...ive only done Transits with cracked pistons.....the same engine in Boxer or Ducato ive only done camshafts with slipped lobes, detroyed rocker arms or snapped oil pump chains at 300,000k...im no expert on them but just seem to have seen a few.😂
