Im 16, and i have been watching you since i was 13. I worked since i was 14, bought a project car, finished up the car, and now i just got my license, and me and my project are on the road! You taught me alot about working on cars and it helped me in the long run. Thank you for everything you do Derek and dont ever feel like you need to justify yourself. Us real VGG viewers know that you are a hard working father and husband!

@@toddhill2362the 01 lesabre needed the most work, all metal brake lines, a brake hose, trans cooler lines, both front tie rods, both rear trailing arms, pads and rotors on all 4 corners. And many other small things like sensors and stuff. The century needed both front lower control arms, front pads and rotors, and a new computer.

I've heard stories about the maple syrup. Is it the stuff that comes in a can? You need an old school oil can spout so you can pour it straight down your throat. I think that is how they drink it or so I've been told.

My dad and I bonded over your show. Haven't talked for 30 years then he got COPD, contacted me saying he had very little time left in June, had in home hospice care. Every week since I've called him on the weekends and we'd talk about the latest VGG episode - we're both into hotrods. He passed right after labor day, had a military funeral at Fort Snelling National Cemetery 9/19. I want to thank you Derek for creating a channel that in the end gave me time with my dad and some closure. This channel will always be special to me for these reasons.

There was a guy in my hometown that owned one of these. He was driving one day and lost the clutch and that's when I happened upon him. I gave him a ride back into town and to thank me he said "once it's fixed I'll give you a ride in it". Well fast forward about a month later and I see him at the gas station and he said "are you ready for a ride of your life?" Boy it was so fun and we didn't follow the suggested speed limit. I'll never forget that. This video brought me right back to that point 30 years ago. Thanks for that!

Hey Derek, I was a car salesmen in 1994 and sold my first Chrysler LHS to an Italian gentlemen out of Woodbridge, ON just west of where you picked it up. The customer and his wife told me all about his Panterra. I'm thinking this could be his car. I think his name was Tony and his wife was Rose or Rosa. If I got the names wrong, he was the owner of a very well established huge machine shop. There's a good story behind how we met and what a great couple. It's fabulous to see it end up in your hands if it's the one. I remember her saying how loud it was and because of that they never drove it far. God Bless You Man.

I can't understand why you had to trade so much for just a Pantera. In 1989 I bought one for $2,500 wich to me that was a freaking fortune at the time. But it was in absolutely perfect condition. And I had just sold my Mustang . Kept it for about 6 months and sold it for $4,000 bucks. I thought alright if the guy wants it that bad then I'll take his money..And I was more than $1,000 bucks ahead whoo hoo. Yea yea I know now. And I kick myself every day. Don't rub it in.

I remember when the Pantera came out in ‘71, I was 12 years old. I have loved these cars ever since. I remember trying to sketch these in math class. I was never able to acquire one, but I can live vicariously through you. Thanks for bringing back my childhood memories , Derek. Hopefully you’ll show us a lot of the restoration.

I can’t ever imagine someone having anything derogatory to say towards you Derek. I love what you do and you inspired me to start doing it again. I set out to do exactly what you do back in 2011 but affordability got me as it always gets most of us! I recently decided to give up again, just figured what is the point, it won’t work and people will think I am just being a copy cat, instead of seeing that like you I am just doing what I love. I almost died early Tuesday morning as I fell into a 4 foot trench after tripping over a tree root while on the job. I could have broke my neck, could have drowned. I am so grateful I had good enough luck that I was able to sit in front of my tv today and watch another one of your videos. I think if I was ever going to get an import I would definitely say the Pantera would be the way to go. I will never let what others think stop me and I never plan to give up or even think about giving up ever again! Thanks for another awesome video and for continuing to inspire us!

I gotta say, I found your channel when I was in my deepest of pits regarding depression. Times were bad, I found your content was the only thing at the time that I would get up for. I loved that you never have a plan other than get the car running and drive it home. A concept simple, but it works. I am now getting better, and I thank you for helping me (even though you didn't know that you was), keep up the good work and I can't wait for what's next!

Reaching a goal and being able to buy your dream car is something! I been through it as well, for 10 years I wanted a 59 Chevrolet Impala Concertible and it seemed unreachable but I never gave up and kept going and was able to buy it 2 years ago after buying, fixing up and selling 15+ classic cars. To this day every time I take it out, I can't even describe the feeling! Enjoy this dream car Derek because you deserved it and do realize the whole journey was so worth it!!!

Derek, what an episode! I'm 64, and in 1971, I was 11 years old. I had this wall chart, and you bought stickers to scratch on of all sorts of exotic cars. The De Tomaso Pantera was the most exotic sounding of all and my favourite. To see that you have one fills me with joy. I'm in the UK and so some of the things like the bearings and bits you have to take out to get to something are very familiar to a young gofor. Me and my friend Steven hung around a garage in the 60s and 70s. Our small hands were put to good use in tight spots. He went on to have his own garage. Man, your hands are mangled! You have my fantasy car. I'm astonished that it is yours too. Couldn't happen to a better person. Do you fit in it?! Special car for Jessica. 😊. Regards, Stephen.

Derek, I can not begin to thank you enough for all the joy and excitement you have brought to my daughters and I. You and your videos are an inspiration to my daughters and I to get out there and save classic cars. This video holds a special place for me, because I used to work in restoration and I worked on a Pantera that crossed the Mecum Auction block so I wanted to pass along the company we used for Pantera parts. Pantera Performance Center Inc in Castle Rock, CO. They may be a useful resource for you. Good luck with this beautiful car.

Hey Derek! I’ve been watching for years and you have helped me immeasurably with my projects. I’ve been wrenching my whole life but not at your level. But with tutelage and encouragement from you, my ‘72 Chevy C/20 long bed 402 4 speed has been converted to HEI, and has a rebuilt quadrabog! I’m gonna do the clutch next. Even better, I pushed through my apprehension and built a late 70s HD Shovelhead chopper from the crank up out of a basket case. I even taught myself to weld! Largely thanks to “A Guy!” You and your family are truly an inspiration and proof that the American Dream is alive and well.

I used to work on one of these (GTS version, even rarer) as an 19 year old apprentice in New Zealand. My boss came to me one day and said "This thing is not running right, it struggles to get over 100 mph". It was running on 7. Long story short, after the usual checks, I pulled the valve covers and found a push rod had gone up through a rocker. Got a set of pushrods and rockers and put it back together. I had to test drive it off course, the only car I have ever had at 160 mph and it scared the cr@p outa me. Hell of a thrill too though for a 19 year old. Boss told me after it was the best it had ever run.
