This is a Eurovision CLASSIC. Surprisingly enough it didn't do that well on the evening. BUT! It made history, especially due to the Epic Sax Guy. But really, it IS a really great song. Also I love the male lead's vocals. So deep and smooth. Hopefully you one day get to react to their other Eurovision entry 'Hey Mamma' from 2017!

Ironically, another mega successful Moldova ESC alum, Pasha Parfeny, was the original Lead singer for SunstrokeProject, he left in the 6 months or so before ESC 201, and ended up repping Moldova in 2012 and 2023, both songs being very popular and memorable.

The location was the Fornebu Football Arena, in Fornebu, Norway. Which is right next to Oslo, Norway's capital. And the LED screen was actually a "lower " cost backdrop, which is not an actual video screen, but a more pixelated LED wall, which was able to show shapes and abstract forms, but not really video.

The Eurovision stage used to have a different theme every year; for example 1992 was a Viking ship, 1996 was an oil rig and 2006 was a Greek amphitheatre. I miss that.

Missouri borders Tennessee, south of Iowa, in the Mid West, St Louis is the major city I think. Arkansas is south of there I think - on the plains, subject to tornados? And I do not know what the major Arkansas city is. So yea, Problem for us is, states are not countries, and while we can roughly pinpoint them on the map, we ain't gonna get them exactly right because we focus our geography on countries. I did not look at a map for this :D Now I'm gonna do that and have egg on my face :D Btw, saw this performed by Sunstroke project (the band) and Epic Sax Guy in Oslo this year. It was great fun. New singer, but those guys are great. 'Hey Mamma' - 3rd in 2017 - was great as well.

One week a while ago they asked for band performances. I can think of a few recent ones, particularly Australia 2023 with Voyager. I also had a soft spot for Slovenia 2023 with Joker Out. Also loved Georgia 2022 with Circus Mircus and Sudden Lights 2023, although neither of those qualified. Someone prompt my brain into remembering other band performances! (that they’ve not already seen, I know they’ve watched Måneskin, Lordi etc.).

Moldova and Romania are 1 people, 1 language in 2 countries. Their Eurovision song fro 2022 Zdob si Zdub sing about that topic. Believe it or not, more Europeans know where are US states or cities than the other way around.

Moldova is known for being one of the poorest countries in Europe. Recently one of their entries was about the train going from Chisinau to Bukarest (capital of Romania). A lot of moldovans i hear work in Romania. But I'm no expert on Moldova so correct me if I'm wrong. They also have a difficult relationship with Russia just as most eastern european countries have.

Well current Republic of Moldova land changed hands many times over the centuries.. After WW1 it was annexed back to ROmania, and formed the eastern half of the core ROmanian region of Moldova. Thats thwy the country specifies "republic". The land is also known historically as Basarabia/Bessarabia, after a famous general/ruler. Not the same guy as in that carpet/tapestry in the Trenuletsul video though. After WW2 and the USSR enslaving every thing east of the eventual Iron Curtain, it stripped Basarabia away again, and created a mock SSR called Moldavia. The reason the Romanian spoken in current Rep, of Moldova has noticeable differences from Romania is all those centuries, before and after the World Wars, when Russian language was enforced upon it. Over half that nation speaks Russian as a Primary or Secondary language. Only the generations born after 1991 Independence have grown up *not* speaking Russian. It is incredibly inspiring what that tiny population (roughly equivalent to Utah at about 3.4- 3.5 million) can do.

Most ppl dont understand why we like ESC. It doesnt have anything with our taste in music. It is a show where i want that someone shock me, surprise me or anything else out of the box. I would never vote for a good song, it needs to be song which crave for atention. This song is clasic ESC but that saxophone was epic.

Speak for yourself. Yeah Eurovision is crazy and shocking but it's also about good music and endearing performers. The whole point of the show is variety. Never voting for a good song - what a weird and contradicting take about a song contest. I will always vote for a good song, be it crazy as in Silvia Night (Iceland 2006) or pop ballad with amazing vocals as in Gjon's Tears (Switzerland 2022) or greatly performed genre mixing song with a heavy message as in Hatari (Iceland 2019). But I do hope that Moldova & Romania unite, even if only as a two part federal country. It would get Moldova in the EU & NATO. If Ukraine falls, Moldova is probably the next country to be invaded. Russia already has troops in a part of Moldova called Transnistria, that they consider to be a separate country but most of the rest of the world still considers part of Moldova.

Just because you don't like something doesn't mean someone else can't put them forward. You've literally done what everyone else does when their favourites don't win eurovision....and that is to throw your toys out of the pram! If you're losing faith, put your own selection forward.
