One year they sent a couple of guys with Down’s syndrome and an autistic guy playing punk rock. The shock and awe strategy doesn’t win every time, but it does give better results than their old strategy.
A representative of Microsoft actually stated that they'd be okay with him using the Windows 95 logo, but it was against Eurovision rules. In the original performance in Finland the logo wasn't blurred but they changed it for the actual competition. The funniest part of all this however was when they re-uploaded the original performance on the ESC YT channel, they just edited the logo in the video to a blur and titled it "Windows95man - No Rules (Rules Applied Version)"

"Call me what you may See if I care, see me slay! Is there something wrong with the way I look? Is there something wrong with who I am? If I'm not alright, tell me why do I feel so beautiful tonight?" In a Eurovision full of songs about being yourself no matter how tough it might be, when I sat down and finally listened to these lyrics, those lines somehow hit me the most out of any song. The whole song's message is just incredible. UMK did a good job of featuring the two in the build up and you can see how genuine both were in the spirit of this song. And Henri seems like a quiet guy but just got better and better with each performance. He's adorable, I want to put him in my pocket and take him home with me.

Finland is a rule breaker that never breaks the rules. We are very caught up in keeping the peace through following rules and regulations but then we also rebel under them. Finland pretty much kicked off the harder rock era in Eurovision in 2006 with Lordi winning. Sure, there'd been rock and even a little metallish entries in the competition before that. But it absolutely blew up after 2006. Finland also once sent a band of disabled men to Eurovision. Because they had a legitimate band that's been performing live in Finland for years. They wanted to Eurovision so they participated in the national qualification competition and won. They didn't do well in Eurovision. But in my opinion their participation was a huge thing for undervalued and underestimated disability community all over Europe.

Henri, the main singer, is a voice artist for films and animation films, and he started working as a voice artist at the age of four. Windows95Man or Teemu Keisteri is a DJ and a visual artist and he paints hilarious pictures for his Ukkeli-series (look it up). The performance has hilarious references to the famous Finnish folklore, Kalevala, according to which the world was born out of an egg of the Goldeneye Duck. Henri is a bird with his feather denim jacket. His boots resemble the boots in the days of Kalevala, which were made out of birch bark in a check-pattern. Henri was not meant to be performing at all. He was producing the song and sang his parts on the demo, but the idea was to replace him with someone else. That never happened, and the demo was sent for selection with his vocals on it, and he ended up in Eurovision! He didn't wish his name to appear as part of the artist name though, but turns up on some of Windows95Man's DJ gigs. For additional laugh, here is a Spa Mix of No Rules in true Enigma-style! (They performed this in Eurovision Village on stage wearing bathrobes and the dancers were blowing bubbles, and they were distributing mini-denim shorts for fingers everywhere!). kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2bZhqOJr92YfNk

Finland has had some stand out songs that didn't necessarily fit the Eurovision mould, but somehow weirdly they have become quintessential songs that define the craziness of 'Eurovision'. From a hard rock horror band that won in 2006, to a punk band with developmental disabilities in 2015, Finland have (in the last 20 years) delivered something unique, or something memorable. From Krista Siegfrids same sex kiss with the slightly deranged "Marry Me" to Kaarija's fun-filled "Cha Cha Cha", and the more quality pop songs and ballads like Saara Alto's "Monsters" and Norma John's "Blackbird", there's so much in the Finnish Eurovision back catalogue that makes up a rich and varied musical tapestry. Perhaps have a look at the songs of the past 20 or so years that have represented Finland. There's some great stuff
