Real Pride - LGBT+ Documentaries

Recent figures show that more than 40 percent of LGBT+ people will experience a significant mental health problem, compared to around 25 percent of the whole population, and are more than twice as likely to have attempted suicide.
In this eye-opening film, young pop culture icon Olly Alexander explores why the gay community is more vulnerable to mental health issues, as he opens up about his own long-term battles with depression. As the outspoken frontman of the British band Years and Years, Olly is a powerful voice on mental health, bullying, and LGBT+ rights. He has broken taboos with music videos that celebrate queer identities and spoken openly about his own sexuality as well as his ongoing struggles with anxiety.
In the film, Olly joins young people on their journeys battling issues that parallel his own - from homophobic bullying to eating and anxiety disorders - and along the way he asks what can be done to address them.
Real Pride celebrates the LGBTQ+ community around the world and aims to shed some light on how mental health affects people from within the community as well as the rest of the world. Subscribe for great documentaries twice a week.

this is a really complicated topic. the same happens to kids with a foreign background that are basically alone in their classes as well. not only the bullying, but the feeling of being alone or being singled out. or, for me, as beeing into girls but having a rather feminin way of carrying myself at that time, i too was bullied for no reason. then, people act all affected if something tragic happens, but before that, they cry "woke!" if communities try to advocate for a more inclusive, more tolerant society. and you really dont have to be part of any group really. you can be a white, cishet dude and still get depression because your parents didnt care for you when you were a little kid who was unable to talk about his feelings because "men have to be strong". it saddens me to see a society that thinks so highly of itself, is still unable to finally rid itself of basic things like racism, sexism and all the phobias, not to mention toxic masculinity and the patriarchy. its always been just a selected few who benefit from it, but its never the basic guy, and yet they defend it like their lifes depend on it.

That's because what we fought for was not that important, the right to marry is being respected as a human being.

Im not gay myself I’m a trans girl but I fully support gay rights and stuff and I even have gay friends and I think it’s awful that they have to go thru so much pain they deserve love just like everyone else does. I accept everyone for who they are and I’ll be friends with anyone who asks.
