When I think back to the time of release on a lot of these discs I see a portable stereo in every dorm room. Nobody drove a Porsche and the coolest kids drove Triumph Spitfires or a MGB midget convertible but they were one in a thousand. Warehouse Sound started selling stereos in the early 70s nationwide, but were record companies releasing these kinds of discs for college kids with high end JBLs attached to McIntosh preamps and amps equipped with Empire turntables and cartridges in mind? Looking around Kenyon or Yale in 1970, prep schools in New England, poolside parties in California my recollection of late 60's pressings for the next 10 years was not remarkable, but the reissues I read complaints in reviews about today seem pretty good to me.
