The Knicks made a huge splash acquiring OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors but they aren’t done yet. Multiple reports say New York is hunting for an even bigger player but we know a lot about what they will do. This is a look at their next move and why it will make the Knicks an instant contender.

Let’s get off this narrative that ALL first round picks are made equal. No team was offering the Raptors 3 unprotected firsts for OG. They were offering shit picks from other teams likely to be in the mid to high 20s. KD, Gobert, and others got traded for unprotected picks of the team trading for the star player that have a good chance of being top lotto picks in the future. This stupid narrative needs to stop…..

Raptors aren't tanking for their top 6 protected pick. Even if they trade Pascal, they aren't bad enough to "catch" the bottom 5, and they aren't going to spend the season trying to be exactly 6th last, where they might lose it to the lottery anyway.

exactly. It's a bad take to think the Raps are gonna tank for a top-6 pick in a very very bad draft class. The Raps are gonna let the pick convey to the Spurs this year, it's not like they take the Raps pick or they don't - it'll just be deferred to next year.

The second round pick is Detroit's so it's going to be the 31st pick, and Quickley is probably going to be averaging 20 and 5 as Raptor's starting PG. The Raptors got a good deal for OG. Put soem respect on Quickley's name instead of just saying the Raptors got a bench guy. Frankly, they should have been starting him alongside Brunson and then taking him out early so he could come back in with the second unit, like Thibs was doing with Barrett when he was still in NY.
@MrRapmaster19

IQ would be a bona fide starting PG on most NBA teams, it's just a shame he's behind debatably one of the 5-10 best in the league and isn't remotely lengthy enough to play the SG with Brunson at point. I'm a Knicks fan saying this, we loved IQ for a reason: he's damn good.

Booker (playing PG next to Beal this year) 10. Curry 11. Morant --> I could see IQ start for the Lakers, Blazers, Jazz and Spurs East: 1. Holiday 2. Lillard 3. Maxey 4. Haliburton 5. Suggs 6. @@hualchr6697 I would say he’s for sure better than Conley and McCollum (Conley based on pure skill alone, CJ simply because he isn’t and doesn’t even play like a PG) in the west, as well as Suggs in the East. Knicks got rid of their highest upside player in favor of Divencenzo, because they're the only organization dumb enough to build around a coach as opposed to their best talent. Then they traded that player away for a guy who was on his way there in 6 months (without giving up assets). They're spending all their assets on a guy who cannot stay healthy an entire playoff run for 2 ironmen ... to build around a core of that includes Randle. Knicks are screwed my friend.

As for the Raptors they can insert Barnes to the power foward position while Benny Math can start the shooting guard. Nembhard can be an excellent backup to quickley. this is what i would think what the pacers can offer.

Embiid - yes because it's been awhile since Ewing Booker - no cause they don't need his position PG - meh cause he'll play like 5 games and be injured Mitchell - no because it would be too small a backcourt Kuzma - yes he can play both 3 & 4 K.A.T. - yes same answer as Embiid Wiggins - no he only seems to work with Golden State Zion - why bother. He is too often overweight but IF he got someone to kick his butt into shape then my answer changes to yes. He needs David Goggins to beat him into navy seal form. Then he'd be unstoppable.

This trade is a win-win if the first few games are anything to base off of, neither side got "fleeced". The Knicks defensive woes have all of a sudden disappeared with OG replacing RJ and their starting 5 has looked outstanding in the first couple of games, even with OG not really knowing Thibs' system yet offensively. Plus, as you said, they're going to replace Quickley's bench production with someone like Brogdon, Rozier, or Clarkson, all of whom they easily can acquire for like Evan Fournier, Miles McBride, and a 1st. Sets them up for a potentially great playoff run with a team better than the one that got to the conference semis last year. Meanwhile, the Raptors got a great future piece in Quickley, who I think can be a franchise PG and star if he develops on his current path. His defense and lightning rod shooting is such an asset for Toronto, and them getting him for OG is easily worth than any single 1st round pick Memphis or Indiana would've surrendered. They knew it'd be stupid of the Knicks to pay him the $30M he's going to command this summer to be a backup, as he'd always be behind Brunson, so they got a head start with his bird rights and locked him in in all likelihood. RJ is way more of a question mark, and I don't think his ceiling is remotely as high as Quickley's, but he can be a good rotational piece if he accepts a reduced role and learns to be more efficient.

I can’t see Toronto getting any higher than 6th, and that would still be in the Spurs favor, pre-lottery at 54%. Chicago may be poised to blow it up, too, and join the tank. Atlanta is pretty shaky, and if they trade Dejounte, look for them to drop in the standings.

Personally, I feel that Paul George will retire ringless, unless he wins with the clippers this season. The best chance he has to win a ring is this season, as this clippers squad is the best squad he's ever been on in his entire career, and is most likely to remain that way. It seems as though the clippers are pretty likely going to make a title push this season, considering it seems as though everybody is going to be fit come playoff time, so they're gonna have a pretty stacked rotation in the playoffs. Harden being the third option should also bring the best out of him come playoff time, as while Harden has choked scoring wise in the playoffs before, he still remained an elite playmaker and facilitator. This is the most probable lineup for the clippers in the playoffs: PG:Harden SG:Mann SF:George PF:Kawhi C:Zubac PG: Westbrook SG: Coffey SF:Powell PF:Theis C:Plumlee Bench: PG: Bones Hyland SG: Brandon Boston JR SF: Jordan Miller PF:Kobe Brown C:PJ Tucker All their units are elite, their coaching staff is accomplished and experienced, their stars are accomplished and experienced, with many of them having career best years. Kawhi is likely to leave after this season so this is the clippers best shot.

Trade was a win win for both teams. Some of the points in this vid are way off. The draft capital the Raptors would have got in the off season would probably not have amounted to what they received in this trade. Raps arent tanking to keep their top 6 pick either. They already won 2 close games and they very well could try to keep Siakam if this team continues to win.

Yes I would like the raps to get their first round pick back. But if we don’t give it to the spurs this year it goes to next, and then to next. I believe it doesn’t turn into two seconds for 5 seasons. So we gotta lose that pick sooner or later. And it’s impossible for raps to drop below 6th pick unless crazy draft luck. I would trade pascal for Benedict mathurine and jarace Walker as the corner stones. That’s the trade
@khalilnayef9978
@khalilnayef9978 4 ай бұрын
I agree with all that for sure. Ain't no way Masai cares about this year's first round in a historically bad draft class. He'll let the pick convey this year, try to hit on our second rounders, and move from there (hopefully with Pascal already traded).
@windowman9665
@windowman9665 4 ай бұрын
Yes sir! Masai basically can’t make any trades involving picks until this years pick goes to the spurs. So just get it over with. Cash in on pascal. Get young players. Masai is smart…. Why would we want the Knicks potentially garbage picks? Lottery protected picks are garbage! The trade for RJ + IQ is better than 2 lottery protected picks and a pick around 12th. We want young, controllable players with upside

Getting Embid or Booker would be INCREDIBLE. But I'm a Knicks fan, so I'll expect them to give Tim Hardaway Jr $456m for 6yrs and call it a win 😢

I don’t think Spida or Dejonte Murray will push the Knicks to the next level. If they do trade for a superstar, he’s not available yet. They make a small move before the trade deadline and go all in for the next guy. Raptors will not tank, the team is more balanced now after the trade. Even a big three Scottie, IQ and RJ we are still a borderline playoff team. Pascal wants more than what the Raptors are offering or the deal would be done. If I was team looking to win a title he’s worth the price even as a rental.

Yea there is basically no shot that Embiid leaves philly. Embiid and Maxey has a great relationship and are a better version of Shaq and Kobe (who hated each other). The main reason there was rumors about Embiid thinking about leaving philly is because he was getting coached by the worst coach the NBA has ever seen. Now he has probably the best coach in the NBA behind him. Its only a matter of time until Embiid wins his first chip, the only way they fail is if embiid gets seriously injured.

Brogdon or J Clarkson would be great shot creators to replace Quickley. They would be the top options, and when it comes to the star, I'd imagine all eyes are on Embiid, Book, and Zion. I dont see PG or KAT being moved, and Donovan will end up in MIA or BKLYN. I hope its Joel or Book, either would be awesome fits here.
@WARnTEA
@WARnTEA 4 ай бұрын
This is going to sound like typical fan bias but there is no shot Embiid leaves philly. Embiid and Maxey are a better Shaq and Kobe, and Nick Nurse is the best coach in the league. You’ll find out when you watch them in the playoffs. They might not win this year, as its a brand new system, but its only a matter of time until Embiid gets his first chip. The only way it doesn’t happen is if Embiid gets seriously injured, and if that happens knicks aren’t trading for him.
