The lever of the finder that doesn't return looks to me indeed like a mechanical problem. That being said, I've read somewhere that they changed the operation of the lever on newer models so you didn't need to reset it when you wanted to put the finder back but I really don't know enough to tell you more about it. I don't want to use radioactive glass although I don't know if it is really harmful or not. Make at least sure you don't take it close to your eyes when it's not mounted on the camera. I have an XK which has the same sort of issues with the mirror lock. I haven't found a solution and I'm probably not going to put much effort into finding one because I don't shoot film anymore. I bought the camera because it is a relic from the past and, apart from the mirror lock problem, in a pretty good condition and cheap.
