When pouring those foundation blocks: don't try to dry them out. Concrete doesn't get hard by drying. It gets hard via a chemical reaction that needs water. By drying you are removing the water for that reaction and greatly weakening those blocks. It will be much stronger if you spray them with water and keep them wet for a few days. 48 hours at minimum. Concrete continues to curr (get stronger) for more than 28 days. It reaches minimum strength in about 7 days. So DO NOT dry it out!

If you can find 'elastomeric' paint, I suggest paint the top of both containers. The white will reflect the most heat. I guess it might not be easily available in Portugal, but it is worth a try. ... I was with and organization that was given an old flat top tar roof (aka black tar roof) building to use for a few years. We just poured it onto the roof from 5gal buckets and used mops to spread it, we could measure an almost immediate 20F drop in temperature inside the roof as we were spreading it. Good stuff and not very expensive vs doing a more 'conventional' roof. It also filled several water leaks we had. Just a thought.

Hi Brittany & Drew! Every new video is an adventure!!! When you installed the square vents, Drew, the first thing I thought of (from experience) is to add a mouse-proof metal mesh *and* a thin window screen mesh behind it to keep flying & crawling insects from getting inside the container. Mice/rats can do enormous damage in short time. For us it was a pregnant mama tree rat displaced by nearby construction. She got inside our house due to a dormer soffit not being sealed during construction … mama’s nesting instinct caused $3,500 damage inside our house in only six days). It was an expensive lesson learned.

You’re going to get that oven effect once the container gets hot. It is like a pan on the stove, once the ambient air around the metal heats the walls they will retain the heat. Same thing will happen in the winter. Your watermill brick will do the same. I had an old brick building and it was always a week or two behind weather changes. You could spray water over the container to help with neat exchange, and shade will help. Usually the direct sun will be 10-20 degrees warmer than the air. Stay cool!

I also am impressed with your dedication to the intricate workmanship to even the details of trimming and sanding the base supports. I wish I was there to help with the container ventilation and leveling. I think the small vents do not pull in enough cool air get that airflow in hence more in-more out. I am a self fabricator in steel, wood to what ever material I can get my hands on. I liked the Drew adapting knowledge in the vent fan installation. Good to see these intense thoughts being used in these episodes and Brittany has the heart of a giant with the eyes and ears to intrigued us with this weeks vid.

Since you mentioned that it gets windy, I'm wondering if, as an added protection, it would be a good idea to tie some paracord or twine of some sort to really tie it down in case of big gusts of wind. As has already been suggested, you should consider a "safari roof" on the top of the containers - a 1 or 2 inch air gap using planks set as far apart as possible between the steel roof and the insulation boards will make a big difference. I'd also look at a couple of solar powered 12 volt fans, side mounted as high as possible rather than roof mounted.
