This episode is hot, muggy, hard work, but you might learn something about multiple part lines and how to make a small winch do hard work.
www.paypal.me/RotatorRon If you appreciate my videos, tips are greatly appreciated, but not required. I do this as a hobby. Thanks and God bless.

I see a confederate flag on the back window of the mule, some ppl are going to find that flag offensive... I don’t give a hoot but I’m sure someone will take it out of proportion.

Oh and they have....believe me. The thing is...IT ISN'T EVEN MINE!!!! Yet, people are assuming that it is. They obviously haven't watched enough of my videos to know me and realize that I respect everyone. I do not incite hate or racism or whatever it is that these people believe this flag represents. I'm not even going to debate that point about the origins or meaning of the flag.. My problem is that THEY are the ones creating issues by ASSUMING!!!!! All they need do is watch my other videos to realize that I am not the type of person who would hate others based on race, religion, sex, or any thing, even another person's actions. Hate and racism are not things I believe in. If a person is respectful to me, then I am respectful to them....period. Out of all the educational and entertaining things found in this video series, it astounds me that some people will focus only on what they perceive to be negative AND they want to express and further their own negativity. I have come very close to removing this video series, and may still, simply because of the negative, hateful comments that I have received. Thank you for not being one of those persons. God bless.

I think I see a Lewis Winch in somebody's immediate future! Preferably with a strap or a Spectra line, and a few more blocks. I'm going to look into a Tirfor cable crawler. If your tree (tailhold) will stand for it, raising your ancher point would help raise the front of the truck through the mud instead of plowing in so deep. Using a 2:1 from a tree behind your mule to a point forward of your mule, with a cable grabber and block on your bull line, then back to your mule would double your net pull. I love this kind of job. It's like mountain rescue turned sideways, logging without equipment, river rescue without the risk of drowning. Great work, Men!

As you say in the text, there are multiple ways to recover this van but there are also multiple ways to make it worse as well. You followed the customer's request to try and recover with what you have on hand. As such, that limits your choices as to successful recovery. My carnival foreman always would ask us, "You do realize that you have to be at least 1% smarter than the object you are working with, right?" As you pointed out a few times so far, the best tool in the toolbox is the thing between your ears, your brain. Use it for something other than a hat rack. Love watching these recoveries. Always some sort of math lesson to show the school kids. Edit: Subbed.

From reading some of the comments, I guess people have forgotten/not comprehended that you said the customer wanted you to act immediately just with the equipment that you had AT THAT TIME. If they had allowed you some time I am sure you would have taken exactly what you needed (and more). Apart from the difficulty of this situation I am sure that it was not easy to keep so calm in the heat and not allow frustrations to take over. Impressive work as always. Best wishes from Ireland, Mike

I've watched probably 2 or 3 dozen of these videos on this channel in the last few days after just discovering this channel - fascinating stuff! I've really enjoyed this perspective, so thanks for sharing these! One big thing I've noticed (maybe silly in a way) is how HEAVY *ALL* of the equipment is. Not to mention how much planning ahead is required for absolutely everything - whether it's the tools needed or the math involved. It's rather impressive! Never, ever under-estimate what it takes to get "you" out of a tough spot you got your vehicle put in.

Reminds me of my days doing trail work in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. A grip hoist, 200' cable, snatch blocks, loop and eye-to-eye straps. Ron, if you're going to do a bunch of these backwoods recoveries, you might look at a 3 ton More Power Puller. Way back when I worked in the woods, we had a Power Puller in every truck. With a shovel, Hi-Lift jack and a Power Puller, you could recover a 4x4 stuck in gumbo clay by your self. Those Pullers were surprisingly effective.
