Around 1980, I made a delivery to the US Capitol. I went through the minimal amount of security they had back then, was escorted to a lower level area where the goods were delivered. The guy who escorted me out said “We’ll take a short cut.” He took me to an elevator, and to my surprise, it brought me to a sidewalk next to the building, close to where I parked the delivery van.
