Now i am thinking about my 2 young grandsons and getting them interested. Thanks for the memories.

In Europe the French stamps you are looking for are not that hard to find, but in New Zealand it seems way harder. But vice versa you do not find stamps from New Zealand that often. I like the French stamps up to the 1980s, they are really nice, same for the colonies and oversea areas. The last cover you got as gift was pretty. Do you also have a stamp from the first set from 1855? I haven´t seen them very often. I only have a blue one which is in a terrific state. This was a nice, cozy fair and the stamps for 2 $ were not too expensive having some fun sorting them. Very nice.
@GreatStampAdventure5 ай бұрын
Hi Oliver, thank you so much for an interesting and involved comment!!!! I appreciate it so much and also that you watched the video! I can imagine just out of logistics, that stamps from a specific area will be more abundant and available from that area. Oh how I wish I could visit Europe and go on a stamp safari! I would also have liked to visit the organization that award the Grand Prix de l'Art Philatelique in France, because I really struggle to get information about it on line. No, I do not have any front facing Queen Victoria stamp yet!!! Being a relative beginner collector I am still sorting through large mixes and lots of stamps (largely NZ) as a starting point. I didn't search or bought specific stamps yet. It is very neat that you have a 1855 stamp!!! Do you collect New Zealand stamps?
@olivermiller20135 ай бұрын
@@GreatStampAdventure I have a small collection from New Zealand, it is very difficult to find interesting stamps. But this is the challenge and I like challenges. Don´t overestimate my 1855 stamp, it is in poor quality and with this not much worth. It was in a collection I bought where I found stamps from many countries. This was the only New Zealand stamp in this collection. I collect worldwide, but my main focus is up to 1950. For newer stamps I only look for some, which I really like. But I´m not targeting to get any country complete, otherwise I would have to focus only on some. I don´t want to do this, there is so much nice and interesting from all over the world. The New Zealand stamps up to 1910 are very complicated for me, because there are so many small differences and this is very complicated. Or let´s say, for me. I also like some of the stamps from the islands in the pacific, but it is the same like stamps from NZ or Australia (this is a bit easier). Yes, it is worth looking on some stamp events in Europe. Some are the same as in your video, but some are way bigger and if you want to have a closer look, it takes more than a day if you have time. May be you have the opportunity to visit a bigger stamp safari in Australia? This is not so far away and I assume that they have some bigger ones as well.
@GreatStampAdventure5 ай бұрын
@@olivermiller2013 It is very interesting to learn more about your collecting, Oliver. I still know very little about the varieties of New Zealand stamps, and I make a note in my brain that I will have to get to know small differences in New Zealand stamps up to 1910. Maybe I should really add it to my bucket list to travel to various areas in the world and buy stamps from local stamp markets/shows/fairs in various countries. Luckily one can fit a lot of stamps in a suitcase! Now I must just win the Lotto to afford the travel and also the large amounts of stamps I plan to buy! 😀
