Hi, I’ve just subscribed, the dogs are St Bernards and the barrels were filled with brandy to revive the people that the dogs sniffed out during a mountain rescue operation. Just to say…. They’re one of my favourite breeds and really friendly. Thanks for sharing, I love a good haul! x

I just found you. Love your haul. In the cactus picture book, the sunset that was just before the map, I used that picture in 1979 to do an oil painting. I still have it hanging in my home. What a fantastic find.

The food book is clip art. It was used for creating ads for those products - usually sales promotions. Clip art was used prior to desk top publishing software. Used before computers & print had to be done manually.

In 1990 smaller stores were still doing flyers or newspaper ads and that book would have given them options for printing

What I remember is they would find people that would get lost in the mountains, also they would find people buried during avalanches. The barrels had first aid and provisions like food and water.
