It's kind of scary watching prices fall like that, even for non-speculator collectors because wanting to buy one feels like trying to catch a falling knife. This does demonstrate how ridiculously high prices were getting, far beyond their historic value.

MCU speculators are like stock day traders. Sure, you might make a big hit here and there, but most people are going to lose their pants. If you're going to buy comics as an investment then I think it might be best to consider long term instead of short term, but to each their own.

Hey great video, a few of your mentions I have been able to get at real deal prices, but not CGC's, I tend to go for grail's in that situation. I picked up that Batman 567 for under $20.00 NM, those ASM's you mentioned about Carnage was good info, I was eyeing that one ASM book with Carnage & Spiderman locked in combat, white cover it's hovering between $100 -$150 now but maybe I'll wait on that one. I am eyeing CGC Vengence of Bain, I passed on a 9.6 for about $100 to pursue other titles at the time, but yes that book seems to be price trending down, but I think it will always be a collectible book. Thanks

A nice presentation. Thank you for posting. Is anyone really surprised? Yea, I didn't think so either. IMO, with the exception of a few titles shown, most of these books have not stood the true test of time. Every fanboy knows 2021 was the most aberrant year for comic prices during the lockdown of America. Tons of spec buyers who couldn't care less about the genre and just wanted to make a buck. Hundreds of thousands of books printed. Plenty of variant covers that nobody could keep up with. FOMO was at a new all time high, along with MCU movies propping up prices artificially. Now, reality sets in with books finding their more realistic prices and it's an opportunity to buy for true readers/collectors. I look at some of these current price points and I think, I'd rather buy a Silver age gem for the same money or even less and have a nice semi grail from titles like Tales to Astonish, Tales of Suspense, Journey into Mystery, Strange Tales, Daredevil and even Fantastic Four and Romita era ASM. And more after the double story books split like early Captain America, Iron Man and Hulk. But that's just my 2 cents and to each their own. Best to all.

@charliedogg7683 Жыл бұрын
Hi James, loved the first cold comics video. The thing that always strikes me about ASM #328, apart from the great poses McFarlane gives the two characters, is grey Hulk's green tongue. Huge money for Incredible Hulk #180, and huge drop. MCP #72 is now where it should be, it was hugely overpriced last year. The drop with Savage She-Hulk #1: partly a reflection of dissatisfaction with the show? All this just goes to show that there is still volatility in the market when it comes to Copper and Modern books.

Great Video! Wondering if anyone has taken into account the tax situation if these books are purchased on Ebay??? A few years ago books were not taxed. Prices are going to continue to plummet on eBay especially on books over a grand. That extra $100 in taxes or more is crippling especially when there is no tax at a convention or LCS.
@berardoferrari Жыл бұрын
LCS has to charge tax, its a store.
@iceman2796 Жыл бұрын
@@berardoferrari You are incorrect. The LCS doesn't have to charge tax and they don't. I just bought a back issue today and they didn't charge a tax. I've never been charged tax at an LCS and I've been collecting for over 40 years. You don't get charged tax and a Convention either. Comic books are periodicals, you don't charge tax on them just like books and newspapers. I've never been charged a tax buying back issues on comic book dealer websites either. That includes Metropolis, World Wide, Quality, and Superworld comics. Taxes are charged on eBay exclusively because of a new law just for them. In reality we should all file suit against the federal government as eBay is put at disadvantage when it comes to comic book sales.
@berardoferrari Жыл бұрын
@@iceman2796 well you would be wrong in canada and i suspect in NY and california which are all tax heavy.
@iceman2796 Жыл бұрын
@@berardoferrari You can suspect whatever you want, your wrong. In the United States your local LCS, Conventions, Newsstands, and Book Stores don't charge tax on periodicals. The brand new issue of whatever Comic Book you're buying comes out either monthly, every other month, quarterly, or bi monthly. That makes it a periodical. Newspapers and magazines are the same, the state doesn't matter. As far as Canada goes you didn't mention that when you called me out. That's a fact you might want to mention as Canada is a different country which has completely different tax laws. BTW I live in Illinois which has an overall higher tax burden than California or NY when all taxes are included.
@iceman2796 Жыл бұрын
@@berardoferrari After my last reply I decided to look up my answer. Looks like I'm right and wrong at the same time. New Comic Books are not taxable in all states as they are still considered periodicals as I stated multiple times. The federal government in the United States doesn't collect taxes on Comic Books at all. Back issues are considered collectibles and can have state taxes collected starting in 2019. There are all types of exemptions. Internet sales crossing state lines seems to be where taxes are collected most commonly. I've never had taxes collected on any online purchases I've made minus eBay. Illinois seems to have lots of exemptions. New York which you mentioned seems to have the least. In person sales at Conventions seem to be exempt unless the seller has a physical presence in the state year round where the sale is made, etc, etc, etc. Either way have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I wish you all the best in 2023 and the rest of your life. I don't want to keep posting on Mint Hunter's page. I enjoy his videos
