Mine's a late 2018 Tourer Hybrid. Not a jot of trouble in over two years and now 29k on it. What I love is the space available for load carrying without it being a massive block of a vehicle; it's slim and manouevrable with plenty of bells and whistles, and it goes electric whenever it can. Not an involving car to arouse the passions but it will keep you safe, it's not tiring on a longer run and at around 55mpg all the time I have no complaints. All round, these are wonderful cars and it's great they have been built in UK.

Yes, very true, they're quite compact yet very spacious. I doubt you'll have much trouble with it even if you keep it 10 years
@gravemind65363 ай бұрын
Medium sized estate will have way more more room than any crossover and better fuel efficency and maintaince costs. I get 55mpg+ on the motorway in my non hybrid 1.2T hatchback, city is 45mpg and rural around 50mpg, if city traffic is bad it will drop to 40mpg.

I recently bought a 2014 TS hybrid, with just 70000 km (43000 miles) in absolutely perfect condition for a really good price. Fully loaded, with beige lether, panoramic sunroof, cruise control, heated seats, parking sensors, JBL sound system etc... I absolutely love it. Although not as powerful and punchy as my previous MK6 Golf GTI, it is extremely comfortable, reliable, relaxing and spacious. Also to me the pre-facelift looks better than the facelift. These hybrids are perfect to buy used. They are not the type of cars that get abused, mostly owners are elderly and take take or them a lot, taxis excluded ;)

Hi from Germany, I have a 2015 2,0 UK build Diesel Auris and I haven't had any trouble. I had my TÜV I think it's called Mot in the UK this month and it passed without problems - the guy that checked it said he sees many cars but Toyota is definitely the most reliable in his opinion. So far I can confirm that.

I have a 65 plate 1.4 d4d with 120000, only thing that went wrong was back wiper mechanism corroded, changed it for £180. Everything about it is cheap to run, tyres, filters, tax, fuel. 1.4d4d is really underrated. No gearbox oil change, timing chain.

200,000 miles and all you needed was the usual consumables! Just have to love Toyota for that. Was recently watching a video of a guy exploring Afghanistan, and literally every single car on the road there is a Toyota. When you don't have much money and you need your car to work, there just isn't a better brand out there. Massive respect to those Japanese engineers. Thanks for subscribing, glad you enjoyed that 😄

Could you possibly do a review of the Toyota Corolla manual version. I hate the cvt gearbox but the manual is only available in the small engine. But is it enough???
@JJonCars Жыл бұрын
The new-shape Corolla? If I can get hold of one I would for sure. I had one as a hire car and it was great. I think it was the smaller petrol engine (1.6 and not even a hybrid?) and it performed OK. Was a saloon model in Europe.
@Sweepdog700 Жыл бұрын
@@JJonCars yeah the new one. They only do a 1.2 engine in the manual in this country maybe bigger engine elsewhere. Seems a nice car but worried it’s under powered. Saying that my wife has a Hyundai i10 1.2 and that little car is fast off the line, it’s surprising fun to drive.

Hi mate - will u recommend the automatic 2013 Toyota Auris 1.6 V-Matic Icon Multidrive S? I've heard not all Toyota's are great in relation to their automatic transmissions - is this version of Auris any different?
@JJonCars3 ай бұрын
Hello. From my limited knowledge, the V-Matic is a CVT gearbox which do tend to be more reliable than the infamous semi-automatics that are available in many cars of this time. I think you should be ok, just check to see if the gearbox is part of the service schedule, and if so hopefully it has been serviced on time.

I got my auris hybrid touring sports second hand from my local Toyota dealer, it’s a 2015 and it had 28,800 miles on it, it’s up to 142,000 miles now, the biggest problem I had was the hybrid battery pack failed at 123, 000 miles and it’s out of warranty, it cost me £1,876 to get a new Toyota genuine pack installed, it was done bye a taxi firm that have a fleet of them, would have been a lot more it a Toyota dealer done it, but all in all it’s a brilliant car and now with the new battery pack it should last me out .
@JJonCars9 ай бұрын
That's interesting. I mean it's not exactly a low cost item, but if the car has been otherwise reliable all those miles, I'd say it's worth it to replace. As you say it should now last a long time 👍

I have been looking at these on Autotrader and can't find any with the clocks shown in this video. All the cars I see have 2 clocks and an LCD display between them. What spec is this one?

I think that possibly the clocks you have seen are in the Hybrid model? Just had a look on AT and it seems to be that way. As this car is just the 1.4D it doesn't have all the hybrid details coming up in that middle LCD display.

Depending on what that price is, and if the mileage/condition is similar... I'm going to say no - the Mk2 is a better car, but not twice as good! And the Mk1 in my opinion does have a little more character/is more interesting. The Mk2 definitely handles better though.
