ANOTHER VanMoof S3 Battery with Blown Fuse! How to test.

Thanks for youre videos!!! There are so many people out there who struggle with their vanmoofs because there dead. And i couldn't find a big community about how to fix all these issues. So Videos like this are worth a lot. My vanmoof s3 had the exact same problem. Now its running again!

After i started with my repair 2 weeks ago i got into it deeply. Sometimes even after changing the fuse the BMS does not give green light. I had that twice now after buying some of these batterys cheap. I managed to get acces to the BMS via software with many cables that run to the connectors. And only that with a photo of the original software from someone who worked at vanmoof. With that i can read out the battery firmware see what caused the problem and activate the BMS again if it doesn't not want to by itself. The fuse often dies because of undervoltage after lettinf the bike sit to long but often its just a random software problem. I did not manage to get the battery firmwares updated, because that would fix them in a long term. Ah yeah and i can see the battery cycles and max temp and stuff like that. But without the software sometimes it works to get the battery discharged. Then the BMS also somehow decides to work again after the repair.

Oh that's fascinating! I'd love to get hold of the software to be able to help out customers with this problem, I'm getting so many batteries sent in for this issue, it would be great if I could guarantee a fix for them. Hey I wanted to ask about an issue on the battery , actually after opening the battery I find 3 resistors blown they are located between DGS+ and CHG. do you think by changing them the battery will work again ?

Im very thankful of this video. Do you also charge the battery yourself before putting it in the bike? What current and voltage are you using?

Thanks! My pleasure. Yes that's right, 42v 1.5A. although it charges weirdly without being connected to the bike, on/off repeatedly, as it isn't detecting the bike. But it does work, takes about 3 days, though. 😂

Well... Yes... But then what expensive part on the bike blows instead of the fuse?

I actually did! new fuse, test, hope that it was a freak accident and there isn't a short on customers bike (batteries shipped for new fuse from all round the world so not always practical to send the whole bike) I did a much longer video on the channel a while back about this :)

Have done 30/40 of these now, only one customer has reported that fuse blew again after a week. Seems reasonably successful, considering that it was just a guess the first few times!
