Yes, but who wears kakhi pants as a White House guest. It looks so inappropriate. They spend tons of money on frivolous items. They should have spent money on a suit. We are rather surprised at Charisma for allowing this tacky move.

Maybe he's more comfortable in khakis. But for fck sakes it's not a life shattering issue. And I bet you can ask 10 people what kind of pants he was wearing, and they wouldn't be able to tell you.

Who gives a shi+ about what or how is wearing? You are representing people with disabilities but refer to them as the "disabled community"? Wow, the BALLS you have and your wife...talking about how you squirreled your way around not having medical assistance and marriage? Big BAAlls, brother, or not. You think your special? Cozy up, bud!

I had an opportunity to travel with a disabled colleague and was shocked at the inconvenience, lack of accommodations and just blatant disregard that she deals with on a daily basis. Airline personnel refused to push her and her 87 year old father up a ramp into the plane because it was raining. When I asked how she should get on the plane they suggested she walk up. She cannot walk and her elderlyfathercouldnot navigate the steep ramp as well!!! She has to cite the law, ask for management and complain before they agreed to push her up the ramp. Upon arrival the hotel that assured us that there vans were handicap accessible, blatantly lied. They had no accessible vehicles and getting her and her elderly father on and off the van was both dangerous and humiliating. Don't get me started with the paeatransit that constantly arrived hours late or early affecting our meeting schedules, despite being arranged well in advanced. It was an education that I will never forget. It is those of use without disabilities that need to change our thinking. Disability exists where accessibility does not. We have to listen and learn and make the change. For those people who are against DEI, this is slso why it's important.

@welheminahkgokgutsebane9635 I am not a special person or special needs person, which is what I think you mean, but none the less, I am a person who has a disability therefore I am disabled, I am not ashamed of it I was born this way, just like a person who has a certain eye color or hair color I am who am. If you don't like it to bad. I'm not going to be politically correct when referring to myself. I have lived long enough to be referred by society as handicapped, developmentally disabled, physically challenged person , a special needs person, disabled, and now your telling me that I should refer to myself as a special person .I define who I am and how I want to be referred to it's my own life and choice.

Hi Cole and Charisma! I am a case manager for MN disability benefits and something that I think able-bodied people need to know more about is what “benefits” are. So many people see the word benefits as something that is not necessary for survival- sort of as an upgrade. Please say more about what benefits are, and how the laws keeping disabled people from getting married are really laws saying “if you get married you can’t have the life-giving care you need to survive.”

Thanks get going and help fight for all of us that live with any type of physical health issue and on SSA, SSDI and yes even VA Pension for widows/widowers that's on disability because it effects our benefits the same. I'm learning this the hard way. After being approved for it in 2016 they have now decided I make to much money on my disability(680ish) a month to get it AND they want me to pay it all back now. Please keep in mind they knew I was on disability and it was the only way I qualified to get it being a disabled widow of a war vet. The PACT is good but it didn't go far enough to help protect us.

Another thing that needs changing in my opinion is when someone leaves you an inheritance. This happened to me. I received a savings bond from a great aunt that did not know the rules of SSI and Medicaid. I ended up having to cash out the bond early because it wasn't enough to live on long term and I would have to reapply for everything if I didn't spend it and get rid of it. I also ended up having to repay SSI over $2000. I wasn't even allowed to put it in an ABLE account. I did spend it by going to Hawaii but still I am not so sure my great aunt would have wanted me to do that.

I'm disabled. I lost my State insurance when I got married. My husband was working as a courtesy clerk at a large grocery store. He was maxed out on raises and only getting CoL. Luckily, I was able to get on his ins but the copays about killed us. Now he's retired and we had to buy a secondary ins bc Medicare doesn't cover enough. I still have meds that cost me over $800/month. Luckily, my $1,600/mon med, I'm able to get through the med company.

Dang you guys are really going places! Love how no matter what you push forward. Still much work to be done for the disabled community in our country. I have been to places where handicapped parking is so far from the door. People abuse it and park in them illegally or there’s no blue parking or ramps at all. I was in a wheelchair for over 3 years and I hate to admit it but it took that for me to realize that there’s such a problem with accessibility. I can walk again but I still struggle with steps and standing for long without a wall off railing to lean on. I use the blue parking but I hate dealing with the abusers and those places where the parking is far away.

This is such truth. I’ve experienced this struggle for so long. I always say I can’t afford to work. With my disabilities I can’t work enough to fully support myself but I can’t only work part time because it’s just the right amount to kick me off off my recourses but with out the resources I can’t afford to live on my own with medical expenses and everything.
@jayzee816Ай бұрын
The income level for supplemeal Medicaid is $2500/month for a single person or $3200 for a married person for Medicare recipients. It's $20,000/yr for a single person. My aunt was was born in the 50s and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. She went to college, but at that time if she graduated she lost her benefits so she was a credit short. (This was in the 70s). She married my uncle and they had to get divorced bc they made too much money. They made very little and they both would lose their benefits. As I have worked over the years I've seen it happen a lot. The income levels are so low it's impossible to live on. The system is broken. People shouldn't have to chose food over medicine. Not in this country.

First off, I want to say Charisma, your hair is gorgeous. I love the natural look. You have such beautiful hair. I honestly agree with everything ya'll are saying about the ADA. We have experience the marriage and work ya'll are talking about. We have never been blessed as ya'll to be able to fly and go places. I also think if we ever were this would scare me. I would be really scared if my husbands wheelchair was broken. I'm not going to try to type out about the experiences we have had with the marriage, insurance and work because when I tried to on one of your Instagram it fact checked me as saying I wasn't giving facts or trying to gain views. I don't know why it did me that way because I was actually sharing a true story of what happened to us since we have been married for 22 years. It was all true information. So now I feel like they don't want us to share our stories. I'm not sure why it did that because I would never try to lie or gain views. That was a crazy experience that I had because I have always tried to raise awareness from our point of view when ever I see post or in general on my on post. I had told my husband and he was like they do that sometimes but I had never experienced it. Anyway, my husband was paralyzed 31 years ago and alot of stuff we learned as we went because there was no information out there back then. Like when we got married and learned about the SSI. I love how ya'll are raising awareness for this because so many people may not realize this that are newly disabled. Thank ya'll for always raising awareness and I hope to one day see more change as well. I have seen some changes through the years but it's still has a ways to go.

As far as new planes having accessible bathrooms, while it's a great thing, considering the QUALITY of the new planes these days, I don't know that I'd want to even fly on one. If there's a problem and a hidden door flies off as seems to be happening, HOW does Cole get off that plane? Can he get TO and DOWN that inflatable slide? Older planes seem to be safer. Hannah can just carry Shane, but Cole is a full size dude and then some. Thoughts? And it's great if an airline replaces a broken chair, but for people like Shane, for instance, it took YEARS for them to even get their new chair to actually be comfortable for him so what is the compensation for that? Does a disabled person need to be potentially bedridden for a year or two until a new chair can be obtained and fitted properly? That's a pretty dang huge problem for them that airlines NEED to be more aware of. It's not a suitcase that's easily replaced, it's their legs and arms and sometimes their voice and access to the world. In some cases, it carries with it the very equipment needed to even keep them alive.

One of my great uncles had a crippling case of polio as a child, around 1910, and spent his life in a wheelchair. He was the child of Irish immigrants who made sure their 5 sons were well-educated. Uncle Tom did very well academically and was awarded a Rhoads scholarship to study at Oxford, in England. However, there was zero accessibility for travelling to England and living at Oxford so he had to turn down the scholarship. Other than him, I have not known anyone using a wheelchair but from watching your videos and those of Hannah and Shane, I notice accessibility problems wherever they are - it's glaring - kinda jumps out at you like abstract art or something! I never would have had this awareness if it weren't for your videos.
