Jeffrey, Thank you for your confirmation. This musical selection has always grabbed my heart whenever something really sad was occurring. I think I know what you mean, too, about other selections that need to be played to recall them more fully. I pray that you are doing great. (Chase)

It was John leofler who was the music composer from 1987 to 1995. He also was the composer and songwriter for the song lady killer with someone else and you can hear the most complete version of his demo version on the aw episode 8/26/91. Before the rascal version was done and ruined the song compared to John leoflers version. Also John loefler was one of the music supervisors during this time but never properly credited during that time period. In addition to his music composer duties. And he now runs bmg recordings who distrubutes iron maidens stuff now. My goodness how ironic and good those who have a good sense of melody and composing and actually understand music would end up running the record label that distrubutes iron maiden along with a lot of classical music stuff.

Thanks Gabriel for that info another world has always had great background music besides both guiding light and as the world turns infact I think that all of the proctor and gamble soaps all had the best background music in all of daytime. AW. Is still missed to this day once again thanks Gabriel

@@jeffreyharnden7523 your welcome jeffrey and I have seen your other comments and feel your pain. Including your feelings on brian Greene, but now with hindsight and comparing against Robert Kelker Kelly Sam fowler. The only other actor I can really picture at that time period playing Sam fowler was Andy kavovit who you would recognize as Paul Ryan from atwt. And I also in hindsight I think Doug Marland missed a huge opportunity with Sandra Ferguson to have as soon as melenie Smith needed to leave atwt do to a family emergency to have brought Sandra over there for a little while to play Emily stewert. I also shared with chase this stuff but now I am going back and forth on it but as sure as hell now think the evan bates story should have been done differently and more like Douglas would have done or harding Lemay. Like not having Amanda sleeping with Evan bates first but having evan bates tamper with the brakes in sams car it appear that Sam was dead Amanda be clueless with what evan was up to she sleep with Evan bates play out the rest then discover evan was responsible for sams death. Slap the crap out of him. Like she did but then discover Sam was alive but in coma. Sent the charecters out of town or something then sometime in 1991 had Andy take over the part then bring Sandra back with Sam waking up then did a proper final resolution to the evan bates story with a good payoff or something. Also jeffrey I have said multiple times even if everything still played out the original way from 1990 to January of 1993. Including with brian Greene the show made a huge mistake by choosing not to recast again as Andy once again could have been brought on the show then and quickly turned things around and did a good evan bates storyline. Again with Evan bates bieng behind sams singing career setup. As I can hear the imaginary dialog in my head. And doing it right after Doug Marland died because the soap world was missing him. And considering what happened at as the world turns another world certainly could have picked up the mantle then. But didn't. And by the way days was a really good show before jim Reilly got there in late 1992. And considering the stench of Jill faren Phelps and the Ed Lillian Maureen storyline for which jim Reilly was a part of. And the further stench with her later on at aw. With the John sharlene felicia storyline which is another one. But unlike the 1980s they made it impossible to fix. And by the way atwt did some bold music choices too like playing in the background giants I'll see you in my dreams or having Anne sward sing at times. And those Oakdale yacht club stuff. And pool parties stuff or the Snyder pond. God the p and g shows guiding light also had the buar berbeques another world had the McKinnon dinner the Cory pool and the frame farm. Atwt had the Snyder farm. Oakdale yacht club with the pool and the Mona Lisa. Club And a dinner. Even AMC and one life to live had there stuff too that made them good too.

@Chase4everChase I wish I could help. AW had the BEST production music in the 80s and 90s and I'm not just saying that bc it was my favorite show. I have been searching high and low for more than 15 years trying to find out composers and titles of so many of these. Many of my favorites I heard in '95-'98. Here is what I know so far... most of the names of composers can be found on IMDB. Some of the composers...Ed Dzubak, Wes Boatman, Barry DeVorzon, Richard Hazard. Musical Directors...Ron Brawer, James Kowal among others. It's possible NBC/Universal is sitting on a lot of it. One piece that I really loved in late 90s I heard it used on Oprah once! It is so frustrating to me that all things Another World seem so much more out of reach than any other show. There is Barry DeVorzon and Richard Hazard - Several good scores but mostly from 90s kzbin.info/door/0j19P3FAioC-95zuCpfRcw - go to playlists and listen to "Close+Personal" And there are a few semi-mainstream artists that were also used... I noticed 2 tracks from Michael Gore (Terms of Endearment) used several times in 1989. And the rest of my finds were only played in the late 90s,... Lesley's Song by Frederic Hand, Slowly by James Patrick Dunne, and I think possibly something by Jim Brickman.

Chase, I think I can answer the question for you the musical composer for the show from 1987 to 1995 it was John leofler who now runs the record label bmg Who ironically now distrubutes iron maidens stuff after buying sanctuary records from universal records. And he was the one who did a lot of the beautiful lush keyboards. And it was John leoflers music that was used during the end credits from late 1998 to 1996. Also for aw fans the composer of the song lady killer was John loefler as well with someone else. And if you watch the 8/26/91 episode you can hear almost the complete version before rascal at least to me ruined the song. Where in the John leofler version it sounds more melodic. With vocals sounding a bit Lou gram or Paul Roger's and tunings that are much more relatable and the demo was basically keyboards or midi for the drums and bass with some electric guitars and some acoustic type guitars but sure as hell to me sounds better than how rascal recorded it with guitar tunings at a whole step down but slightly sharp and a keyboard playing a lead part that should have been a second guitar. I am bringing that up because on my own electric guitar with my limited playing abilities I have been comparing the notes and chords from the demo against the rascal version. And the John leofler version sounds like d minor where rascal sounds like the key of d a quarter step up then jumps to chords that are way out of the key signature and not in a good way. Now I do like the acoustic intro on the rascal version and Ricky Paul Goldens singing on the intro VS the rascal singer. And the acoustic intro on the rascal version was done in conventional standard tuning. Also John leofler was the one who did a lot of the love ballad stuff too I think. And I am bringing it up because a guy who was doing music for a soap ironically had more of a sense of so called heavy metal or heavy music that sounds good VS garbage pop metal. And even in the hair band scene there were a ton of good bands that wrongly got lumped in with pop metal or pop hard rock. Any way I hope this answers your question since they did not properly credit John leofler in most of the end credits. As the music composer.

Gabriel, Thank you for sharing abou John Loeffler. You are the only person so far who has given me any idea of who may be playing this background music from 1988 in this video. I still wish some program would pick up this unique performance that really grabs the heart during extremely emotional scenes. Again, thank you. 🙂 (Chase)
